Lost Writs

I have a couple of characters who seem to have lost the ability to get some of the writs.After going through the training process, things seemed to be fine. Then, 1 dropped 4 writs and the other dropped 2 writs. I would appreciate any help in getting all the abilities back.

The only thing I can think of is did you try and do them again to soon? There is a cool down period before you can pick them up again but can’t remember what it is off the top of my head

So this can happen occasionally. There are a couple of possible things to try.

First, sometimes when you drop a quest the system misses the next respawn or two. Writs reset each night around 10 pm pacific. If you drop today’s quests they won’t reset until after that...and sometimes they glitch and need an extra day. If you’ve waited a couple of days and still no quests, we move to...

...move the character to the next level of writs (if you aren’t doing max level) by spending a skill point in the first passive in that skill line. The system should see you’re entitled to new, higher level writs and respawn a quest for you...sometimes you have to wait for the reset. If not...

...sometimes resetting a character’s skill points resets the writs. It’s expensive, it’s a waste of time, but sometimes it works. If this fails...

...you could submit an in-game ticket. If not...

...you can delete the game from your console/system and then redownload and reinstall the whole thing. Don’t worry - all of your character data and account are stored online. Your drive stores the game files, and sometimes these get messed up.

If one of these works for you (or something else), do me a favor and come back to this thread and let me know which and use @davey1107 in the post so the system flags me. I’ll note what worked for you...because sooner or later the question will pop up again. Lol.

Ugh. Sorry that’s not working. I did a little more research through old posts, and people sometimes have this problem but I’m not seeing any solutions we have tried. I think you’re going to have to submit a ticket. They’re pretty good, I’ve had to do one before.

The only other thing I can think of...and this is a long shot...maybe the board you’re trying to pick it up from is not spawning but another would. Try going to the boards in your zone 1 starter city (daggerfall, devons watch or Vukel guard) and see if the quests spawn there. I saw one post where Vvardenfell stopped spawning but the player was able to get them elsewhere for some reason.

@davey1107, I submitted a ticket but so far they haven't worked. FYI, when you launch the game, on the screen is an options button on the top right of the news portion. hit the down button and it has 4 options, 1 being "REPAIR". Hit that and let it run until it says complete and the play button shows up. Another fixit trick for your bag.

@davey1107 I also found that you should deactivate any add-ons before starting repair. As far as the problem goes, folks at the game help desk said they couldn't fix it, but they would submit the problem to the design board for the future. I lost 3 characters. However, with patch 17 coming out tomorrow, it will be fun to see how it all works. Great gaming to you and thanks for the help.
