It would help reduce redundant topics being created on the forums for this very thing. ZoS simply does not seem to care.

This. The issue is not reporting bots it is following up on it and managing reducing them. Bots are actually encouraged by less effort to actually reduce them. It is why they are so obvious now.

If ZOS would actually respond, then yes, it would help. As is...

I'll still say, report bots every chance you get, but it is frustrating to file tickets, and still see them weeks or months later.

Yeah it is. I wish all the people who are so gung-*** about a bounty system for forcing PvP into the justice system would start pushing for being allowed to attack botters, instead.

i gotta say as awesome as it would be to be able to attack them, i know from my Pvp exp solo charging a zerg spamming jabbing spears would not go well, seeing as how all these trains are 6 or more player each! then again i could just attack them from behind because they don't seem to ever turn around!

If you run into people in-game doing things that break the ToS, please report them using the in-game reporting options. This goes straight to the team in charge of handling things like this and will result in the quickest possible response time to the issue.

Not only would reporting it on the forums add extra steps that would slow down response time, it's actually against the forum rules as it's considered Naming & Shaming.

If you feel you're seeing the same people violating the ToS repeatedly, be sure to report them each time you see it happen. This helps create a pattern of behavior that can assist our team in resolving the situation.

Thanks for helping keep Tamriel enjoyable everyone!

Do it. They might actually take notice of some if they get reports every time you see them. I don't think many people bother to report them.

Well if I only point out the presence of bothers in a location, but don't name them, how am i naming AND shaming?

also the in game report feature is woefully unprepared for these bots. The names these people use make it very difficult to make note of, and when they are clustered it is hard to get close enough and distinguish which one you actually get to target with the report icon.

Reporting bots is a nightmare. They don't stand still long enough, so you're constantly racing after them, hoping the one you magically lock on to isn't the same one you clicked on 3 times before. In a group of 6, it can take quite awhile to get all of them, assuming you're reporting every one.

Given the large prevalence of bot trains and the time it takes to report them, I could spend much of my available times for playing just doing this. There needs to be a better way, if ZOS wants us to report these people. And there needs to be swift action taken. If I report bots and they're still there next week, why the heck am I going to spend even more of MY limited time reporting them again when, by all accounts, my reports were ignored the first time?

I only get one name then add in that they are part of a bot group. I think they can figure that out. Well, I hope they can.

It's 100% reasonable and correct for you (that is, ZOS) to ask that we use the in game reporting tools. You've necessarily built a process for handling these issues that starts with player reports and works through the system from there.

However, if you want the community to do its part and follow the procedures you've established rather than simply posting it all on the forum and saying "well, I did MY part...", we need - need - you to improve the in game reporting tools.

Right now, if I want to report a player for being a jerk in chat, I get a simple context menu option (this is great, by the way). If on the other hand I want to report a bot train, I have to hit F1 or find the ? menu icon up top, find the Customer Support icon (naturally located in between Tutorials and Emotes), and decide - is this something for Submit Feedback or Ask For Help? Further poking shows that for a player who's not intimately familiar with how you want us to put these things into your system, there are no good options.

If it's Submit Feedback, we get a list of options:
    FPBtt7u.png
eh... maybe this is an exploit? Regardless of what we pick, our Category choices say no, this is probably not it.
    C2MJxog.png

Ok, So we go to Ask For Help (which isn't actually what we're trying to do, mind you). We only really have two choices, and this isn't a Character Issue, so we go for Report Player.
    Ib9SqRR.png
Closest match is... cheating? I guess? Even then, there is a field for ONE player name. These groups are usually half a dozen, with their names flitting across the screen at high speed.

The cynic would say that you've intentionally made the system obtuse and unclear to as to reduce the number of reports you receive (and, therefore, the support workload you need to staff for), but I think this view is mostly driven by frustration and a lack of perspective. The way the interface is laid out clearly makes sense to people on your side of the screen, but not from the player's end.

ZOS, if you're serious about players reporting bots in game, you need to add something along the lines of a REPORT BOT TRAIN button on the left side of the customer support screen, with some tools to enable us to actually do so. Click that button, and the game could automatically capture the names of every player in the vicinity. Better yet, their locations. Or start a rolling snapshot of this information for a few seconds, so it's easy to show which names are moving together. Could even take a screenshot pointed at each of them. Possibly disable the system in towns to reduce the load, I suppose - the bot trains are usually in remote areas (though the Shadowfen crew likes to run past a dolmen as part of their circuit). Maybe collect data on mobs that are targeted by an unusual number of characters. All sorts of data that the player's PC is in a position to collect, collate, and then send back to the server as an easily digestible report.

What I'm saying is, we need to reduce the barriers to entry of reporting bots in a manner that works for YOU. You've got some ridiculously clever designers and programmers - finding ways to give players the tools we desperately need is 100% within your professional capabilities.

I just to to get close enough to the BOT for the interact icon to come up and swivel it to report, but when they cluster and run it is very hard to target any particular BOT and sometimes you end up with the same one over and over, likely the caboose of the bot train.

If there was a more user friendly method, i think more would get reported. Either way we come here in hopes that it gets looked at.

No. What I need is a net. A net that will somehow tag ALL of the accounts it catches in a Bot train all at once and report them in one action. AND THEN, for the next time I go to that area, not only are those ones gone, but an actual human has been keeping track of that popular area and further removing the dreaded bot trains.

ZOS is pretty useless when it comes to anything in-game.

Even game breaking bugs don’t get fixed until it is all over YouTube and the forums. (Banker exploit).

Your best bet is to report to Sony or miccrosoft if on console, they can look into possible macros and TOS violations!

I reported the bots by the in-game report feature multiple times.
It is not effective and rarely work.

I don't understand why you don't implement a system of auto detection+bans of bots or hire enough game masters to deal with them in real time.
An automatic system or enough active game masters will be much more effective in dealing with the bots than some random reporting by customers.
Customers shouldn't waste their own precious time because of such game flaw.

Please deliver us a better product by actually dealing with the bots by yourselves...
You are the developers of the game, it should be your responsibility and first priority to prevent such violation of the ToS in the first place.
If you ask the customers to report the bots while you're not implementing any method of auto detection of bots and not monitoring the servers by game masters in real time, you are allowing the bots to exist for far too long in-game.
This approach implies that botting is fine until you get caught due to many reports(which is almost never or after a very long time).

Please combat the bots more effectively! Let us rejoice in a game without bots or very few bots! B)

On xbox there can be 100s on bots stacked on top of each other perfectly so you can't even get there names and it would be impossible. You need GMs in game to track down the main account that owns the bots and ban that account and it's assets spread amongst guild banks alt accounts etc.

Having gone thru this process within the last week, the ingame reporting has ... issues. I'll tell the story.

Near wayrest, Im doing things and stuff and stuff and things and I encounter a Bot. How do I know it's a bot? Single file progression and when the lead stops, they all stack neatly and are using the same attack without variance. So I use the ingame tools. I follow the bot trying to tag each of the 7 characters but because of the nature, I get 4. And 2 hours later, they're still there. So I send a pvt msg to one of the staff in the forum and let him know I had screenshots. He asked for the SS and gave them to him. No more bot.

So now that people know that contacting a forum staff works, you have a couple of choices. Fix the reporting system, get overwhelmed in personal forum messages or delete this post. Might I suggest before you decide that deletion of the post will appear to be acceptance of the bots. =D
