Best Race For Magic Dragonknight 2018

Hello, I have been a magic dragonknight since the games launch for xbox one and with all the changes coming and that have recently been especially the changes to races, I was wondering what race I should change to or if I should change at all? I am currently a dark elf but I can’t help but feel like a high elf would be a better option for me because they now have fire damage too, not as much but it’s still there plus they have more recovery and max magic then the dark elf but dark elf has more max stamina and fire resistance but is that really important for magic dragonknight? Which race would cause more damage and which would sustain better and is there any in game statistics or numbers to show which one is truly superior or first-hand experience testing both side by side?

Melee spot, bad damage/sustain comparatively. Stam builds deal 10k more DPS at top end. Even chains/breath can be subbed to a tank.

What people are getting at is that Magic DK from a DPS perspective is a dead class at competitive endgame. They are absolutely the best tanks still. Their problem is that they suffer from really bad sustain (class skills cost too much) and they are built for melee damage and cant compete with stamina for a spot.

Now that said, you can still pull very good damage with them, but the best of the best groups arent going to bring you along. I would only change your race from Dunmer if you plan to go full tank, in which case Argonian is the answer. Dunmer>Altemer for a mDK DPS.

i do notice that is the only job i have where i can't spam its spammable for long. I have turned him more into an alchemist and chef.

out of my magic charaters i am enjoying warden the most, its great for public dungeon farming because with its three aoes things are dead so fast and i am running mad tinkerer for the extra lols.

so i guess all they really need to do is lower teh cost of lash by a fair bit then it should be good again?

now that is a tank DK, not a magic or stam Dk, but yeah, would be nice to get rid of Dk tank dominance.

in pve, stamDK heavily outperforms magDk on dps. and both eat a melee spot. If you decide to make a ranged magDK then magsorcs, magnbs outperform you.

    Same problem exists with magplar.

Tho funny enough, both mDk and mTemplar , outperform their stamina counterparts in pvp.

So yeah, stamDk for pve, magDK for pvp.

interesting, thanks. game changes so much from year to year. and here I thought stamina Templar was bad and magplar was much better.

I guess level everything to 50 and rotate with the changes.

templars still make the best healers,(and magplars are overpowered in PvP,so many times in cyrodiil winning side is decided by who has more templars, think about it.) but as I said due to zos messing up with morrowind melee ranged magicka classes got a little screwed in pve. They are not bad, actually they do more than enough dps to clear any content in the game, BUT, you know how trial guilds work, they want the best of the best. Which is a problem.

For casual play and 4 man vet dungeons or even vDSA, they will perform excellent. but in trials where the group looks for the BiS setup to have the best chance of success, mDKs and magplars are usually not preferred.
