Would you like DW magicka melee weapons?

I know there is a lot of talk about a Necromancer play style but for me I would love to see conjured DW magicka melee weapons added to weapon skill lines. I think melee magicka adds a lot of potential to play style and the DW would allow magicka users 12 set piece slots.

    Would be useful to have a close ranged magicka option. Not fussed about the configuration, but would rather it be closer to sword and board than dual wield personally, to enable both dps and tank close range magicka users.

    I'd love to see DW magicka weapons - a simple 1H + rune design would be perfect. I'd prefer them to be completely melee offensive though. IMO it should mirror the stam DW weapon line where you get the highest offensive output at a cost of being in melee range and thus in more imminent danger.

    I'm not really sold on some type of DW magicka tanking though. Maybe a conjured S&B, but I'm not really sure where that would fit in conceptually.

    EDIT: you can also make an argument based on symmetry of the weapon skill lines.

    Stam gets S&B tanking, mag gets resto staff healing
    Stam gets bow ranged, mag gets destro staff ranged
    Stam gets 2H and DW melee offensive, mag gets ???

    A melee offensive magicka weapon line is needed.

    Balancing nightmare. I can see the argument for the 2H weapon line though. IMO all melee skill lines should allow for a 5-5-2 setup, including the 2H weapon line. You get the benefit of having two full sets and a monster set at the cost of being placed right next to the enemies. 2H needs a boost in PVE anyways. If ZOS actually implements a DW melee magicka skill line, then 2H will really be the odd one out as the only melee line that can't do 5-5-2. Staves and bows should always count as one set item though.

    Introduce Wands, can mix match just like DW weaponry passives and Staff passives. I.E. Frost Wand lets you block at reduced cost and faster taunt, shock wands do "1H weapon" damage. Or let 2H count as 2 item slots for 5 p sets, probably the easiest solution. But the way its currently set up is rather silly since damage profile for DW vs 2H is the same.

    New weapon sets that morp all skills to magicka with same tool tips would be fun. Arcane archers will be roaming everywhere. They will be bit nerfed tho. Such fun should not be BiS.

    Another thread says Magicka based classes are already light years ahead of stamina in terms of DPS...if that's true how would dual wielding weapons for magicka help bring them closer together?

    And I have no idea which is better but I know I prefer my sorc or magicka NB over the sta versions, although I prefer my stamina Templar over the magicka version as a personal preference.

    Yes, please. A wand-and-rune set would be perfect, and it should be pretty easy to balance, since they can take cues from the dual wield line for balancing. It's never been fair that stamina users can use three armor sets, but magicka can't.

    Frost => Earth, physical.
    Flame => Poison
    Shock => Disease

    One hand and rune was datamined at one point.

    I'd keep an eye out to see if it crops up in a future datamine, particularly leading up to a chapter release. That's the best bet for a weapon line release, imo.

    I doubt we are going to get new weapon types, given the amount of effort required to make all ~60 styles. I think 1H and Magic could possibly become a thing, using an existing weapon on the main hand and having an elemental effect on the off hand. It would require new animations, but not new items.

    A much quicker and easier change would be to tweak the dual wield passives to appeal to Magicka characters. Allow heavy attacks to restore Magicka or Stamina (whichever has larger pool). Allow daggers to give spell crit, maces to give spell pen, and axes to cause bleed from class skills (not just weapon skills). Maybe even give a Magicka morph for 1-2 dual wield active skills. This would require almost no developer effort and would open up a lot of new build options.

    I also would like 2 handed weapons to count as 2 set pieces. It really would affect balance as much as people fear. Basically for a 5-5-1 Magicka build with Asylum and Maelstrom staves, the could consider swapping one or both of the staves for a month master set and go 5-5-2. For a 5-4-2 Magicka build, they would get to complete all 5 pieces of the 4-piece set. This for IA, MD, or MA this hardly seems OP, or they could choose a different set and lose minor slayer to pick up a better 5pc bonus. 2h and bow would each gain about 5% DPS, which honestly they could use to compete with dual wield.

    Yep, the animation/art asset reason is a big part why I think 1H and Rune is the only really likely option. Just have a generic glow/rune appearance in the offhand, use existing 1H patterns in main hand.

    +2 on the "make 2h count as two slots". Make that +50.

    If new animation/assets added, I'd love to see an extra slot for 2h weapon users in general, so that Sword and Board and Dual wield aren't the only way to use 2 five pieces and a monster set. Make it an arrow quiver (bow) and a spellbook (staff); haven't figured out what it'd be for a 2H melee weapon yet - maybe a sheath??

    Not sure about this, but can only look at my own dual wield/bow stat vs. staff only either with my own toons or comparing in fights with similarly geared people. My personal belief is that the full 5+5+2 bonus vs 5+4/5 + 2 makes the difference on my own toons, not really sure about other players, since I see them use some skills I wouldn't think were very efficient or generally accepted as "Meta" (to put it nicely...)

    Nobody is suggesting making that change and keeping everything else the same. Every single character should have access to 5-5-2 for the 5th piece benefits. Balance everything else (skills, passives, etc) around that.
