I admit I have been pretty harsh to the PVP community as of late on the forums here, having lost so many Tel var made me a little grumpy and bitter, but good things outweigh the bad, especially today.

I was on the 30 day no CP campaign, up top farming Tel var on my AD stamina templar khajiit, Coop Ahoy, in werewolf form. I was fighting that imperial defend the door from attacks thing solo (it's not that hard TBH) and while I'm fighting, about 3 or 4 EP with max CP and on their mounts come riding into view. Of course I figured 'oh great here comes the zerg' I knew one was up top because one DC guy was taking flags and EP was instantly taking them back but I was hoping to keep out of their way.

Since I was fighting NPCs I couldn't do the usual stop and block thing but I stayed away from them and just kept fighting and they just seemed to watch for a while, before riding around the fight on their mounts to move on. My heart was thumping way too fast (as it usually does when encountering a possible PVP situation) At first I thought they might come back once the fight was over but they didn't, I never been so happy in Imperial City, especially since I had 6K Tel var on me at the time.

That's not even the best part. After the fight was over I grabbed the chest goodies and used my retreat rock right away to go dump my Tel Var, just in case. Then I decided to go back up, because why not? I tried to avoid the group of course, not wanting to test my luck, but of course they were faster than I in clearing what they wanted and we ended up crossing paths numerous times, all times I was in WW form and they always did the same thing, watch me for a bit while I fight, then move on peacefully. It was terrifying each time, since I wasn't sure if they'd ever change their minds, but I never showed any aggression to them, though I never do to players unless they attack me first (and even then half of the time I run) and they never attacked once after 3+ hours of me farming. It was sooo awesome.

Before I went to bed, I found a imperial motif in a backpack, gold rarity, I never seen one before. I was on the EU side so no equipment crafter yet and I wasn't that interested in the style anyway, so normally I'd probably put it up on guild trader, but I decided to give it to one of the members of that EP group via mail, the one guy I could remember his account name since it was only like 4 letters long. Anyway I felt they deserved it for letting me peacefully farm, even while another AD guy was running around ganking them, I wanted to slap that guy but well I didn't.

Now, to the poll, if you were in the EP group's shoes, what would you have done? And I'd be curious to hear why too, since I never got to talk to them.
And to all who would have and have actually left solo folks alone, a big thank you, know that I would never take it for granted, my only wish was that you guys would get rewarded more often for it.

As someone that can't stand this game's PVP, I would have joined your fight myself to speed it along for you and siphon some tel var off it.

For me, there are really two options if I see someone doing Solo who isn't trying to fight me (and my group)
If I'm not busy, I might actually watch them for a bit.
I sometimes invade in Dark Souls just to follow people around and watch what they do. It's just interesting seeing how people do various things and deal with unusual situations. I might even make gestures or try to be "friendly"
I've had some odd results doing that.

If I am busy, I'd just tend to double check that the person isn't going to try to make me or my people on and just leave them be.
Of course, I would make sure they know I'm around so there are no "accidents"

I've actually come across people in different factions working together to take down enemies. Seeing them fight so carefully is kinda heart warming.

It depends. If I see lonely people with low pvp ranks/low lvl doing pve stuff, I usually just leave them be... Well, unless they attack first. I even did some Cyro delve achieves, camping bosses with players from opposing faction(s). Of course, low ranked char can be an alt, but ap gains are pretty high these days so alts dont stay this way for long.
If I see a person with decent rank/pvp-related title/pvp guild's tabard, I will attack them.

Two disclaimers:
- I am always solo, so i wouldn't gank you with a group
- If you turned out to be no challenge i would leave you alone from then on.

I'm primarily playing PvP to fight other players, challenging if possible. TV stones are secondary.

A word of advice for farming TV stones: divide the amount of stones your UI is showing you by 2, and convince yourself THAT is the real number of stones you are carrying. If you think like that, you will never "lose" any stones from PvP. A little mental "cheat" to make you feel better - works for me

If you actually make it to the bank without dying - treat it like an unexpected bonus.

I usually don't attack single Persons in PvP when i mind my own Business like farming for myself or other pve in pvp stuff. (Except it's a ganker and i am in PvP mode)

I've head plenty encounters with other Players where we didn't attacked each other and either worked together or waited until the other one is done (delves in cyrodiil in example)
Sadly there are some players that don't understand how pure and awesome that feeling is to let the other player in peace doing what they wanted and then attack.
When i was skyshard hunting on one of my Characters i've stumbled over one DC dude who attacked me on sight, even tho i did the familiar "block" thing to show i am not interested.
Well, atleast i was easy AP for them.

It's a really cool feeling to work together for so small things and taking care of the other one to not hit them too hard in the Bossfights
So much better than "hah i killed that noob and got AP, yes!" (Or people that wait until the last boss of a dolmen and then kill the enemy faction player, what cowards srsly)

Well... it's difficult... it can bite you back in the backside, if you let some people live.

I personally would never attack people that's solo, but if I'm in group I cannot always decide... I can express my disgust and not help, but that's about it sadly.

W.r.t. to the bite you back part, I was once with my guild on IC very close to launch, and we saw one single high level EP in one of the districts... he was fishing in a corner. so we waved to him signaling that we didn't intend to bother him and proceed to go for mobs kills and quest progression, that kind of stuff.. many of us were recently starting to do PvP so fighting in the IC area was quite exciting.

Not 5 mins passed, that we saw coming from the door from the other district a BIG group of EP, very big... like ~16 to 24, and we immediately stealthed where we were and waited... they started looking around actively and finally found us and killed us after some fight.

It's too big of a coincidence to let it pass, IMO... even if I don't have proof, I'm quite sure that single EP wrote in the zone chat about us and that's why the big group came... because they were intent on searching for others around, like they knew there was people around.

I probably would have waited until your health was a bit low and then impaled you from stealth. Thats how i get my easy Tel Var's from people who try to suicide by a boss or fight hordes of enemies.

It's a PvP zone. I die and i (try) to kill.

Back when I did used to farm stones, I never would target people who were off; doing their own thing. If I was handling my business in the sewers for example, and see a person on their own from an opposite alliance? I leave them be. They aren’t causing me any problems, so why go and cause some for them?

Yes, i know it’s incredibly outdated and to some foolish... But, I still have and follow an honor code regarding PvP. Even in duels. If notice that an opponent stops attacking, and sheaths their weapon(s)? I’ll go, and forfeit the duel. I’m not 1 of those people who aren’t that addicted to valor.

I usually let people roam around like they want to while doing pve content in a pvp zone. If they attack me then they sure as heck will have to put up with a fight, but if they're just hanging around questing or farming I will leave them be. Heck, I'll even help them if needed.

in princip, while being in Cyro and meet anyone from another alliance anywhere I leave him/she alone.
only if they attack me, like the AD in Chorrol last Friday, they can have it.

Even if we are moving around with the guildgroup, we leave lonly players alone, just a waste of time.

I usually don't bother with PvHEroes because in the end, what I'm looking for, is a fun fight, and they won't provide one, unless they're in a 10+ ppl group.

Then again, sometimes the lone werewolf soloing the NPCs and doing the quest sees me and decides I was going to attack him anyways, might as well attack first, then proceeds to QQ in tells, saying how he was only there to do the quest.

If I'm in a group an a trigger happy teammate decides to get in for a kill, even though I said "leave the guy be", I usually wait to see what happens, if my teammate dies I'll kill the guy and ress my teammate. It may not be fair to the guy, but he's not my teammate, and it is an AvA zone after all.

Depends. When I go to IC I either come to farm or to pvp. If I came to farm, you would have lived. If I came to fight, you'd (probably) be dead.

It took me weeks of daily attempts to clear that ‘defend the doors’ quest because of reds zerging me. Blues would slow down and cautiously pass by, but several groups of reds hung around in stealth to kill me a second or third time even though they knew I had less than 5 stones on me.

Sometimes if you are killed on that quest it glitches and won’t spawn the next wave of Daedra or won’t progress to the next door, requiring you to abandon it and start from the beginning. Crouching, waiting patiently for the last wave at the last door for 45 minutes and concluding you have to restart the whole thing because the daedra aren’t appearing...

It was that experience that soured me on pvp. Screw that place, especially that alliance. I don’t go there except for a specific thing such as grinding to caltrops on my pvE tank, or seeing what the Golden is selling. And when I see the many opinions of “just kill it is a pvp zone” alongside the whining over empty campaigns I think “well when you crap in your own cereal bowl that’s what you get”

Wish people would take this stance a little more often for the people just looking to farm tel var stones...sure if they are taking your flags then it's free game, but if they are just going around a district killing the mobs, then why bother?

Attacking a pver collecting shards or doing pve, fishing is a *** move since you can spawn far away back your territory and horse simulator isn't fun, but in ic you can potentially have stones so i don't blame them... except the ep *** that killed me while fishing multiple times after I asked them to leave me alone as I wasn't carrying telvar any of the times they killed me to which they responded "*** ad"...

Because a) it's an AvA zone, so some people there are actually looking for PvP and b) if you're just going around killing mobs you have tel var stones, and half of your stones are worth more than what a regular mob gives.

It may not be nice, but it's true. There's an advantage in it.

On top of that, owning a district will give a telvar gain bonus, so people just farming telvars have a vested interest in owning the flag.

When I am in IC and I see people solo farming, I like leave them to it, try and make it very clear by blocking and walking away that I am not wanting to engage.

Other times I have no choice as I am ganked from behind.

I tend to leave the flags alone TBH, because if you take one you're signing up for PVP even more than stepping into the place, as someone that wants to be left alone, this is counter productive, so with that in mind I usually leave the flags alone and just do my farming.

Granted, it's awesome when we happen to own all the flags, but last night was EP's night and I wasn't gonna argue with them about that lol. Especially since if they were gonna leave folks alone beyond keeping their flags.

Nothing kills PVP faster than NOT Pvping in a PVP-zone.

If I see anyone in a PVP zone, its kill (or run away) on sight - only exception being if said person is obviously tied up with mobs/skyshard etc... (not counting guards) - then I'll wait till they're done before attacking.

I probably wouldn't even think about the tel-var - and would probably feel slightly bad afterwards once I realised I'd just robbed ya.

@coop500 - chances are that we'd have killed you. We're also PvEers, and go to ICS fully expecting combat when meeting enemy players. We've had several cases where some solo player ganked one of our less experienced players, or where a solo player wait until we're engaging a boss before he attacks. Getting killed and killing is simply part of the game in ICS.

I get that you feel thankful for them not attacking you, but feeling bitter to those who do attack you is a bit unfair to the players who enter a PvAnything zone with the expectation to do some PvA, where "A" includes enemy players.

See @coop500 you think you hate PvP, but this is the good side, first the adrenaline that only Imp City gives and second cool human behavior.

Respect to you for passing on that motif too, honestly. Very cool.

I've left people before, generally if its CP cap and they even twitch towards me ill attack, and of they are AD I have less sympathy. Lower levels tho ill give a few moments grace! Same in Cyro Delves

They deserved the motif, especially having numerous chances to change their mind, not just one.

And yeah I know I've been a little cranky, though I still hate the bad side of PVP (What some may say is the real side of PVP) for obvious reasons.

I hope they were able to read my message, being on the EU side I expect most folks to not speak English for obvious reasons, if nonetheless I hope it makes sense why someone would randomly send them a motif out of the blue.
