EDIT: I do find it dumb that no matter what you choose, Shaldidor gives you eidetic memory. I am not saying the siding with Shalidor should have a better reward but there should be consequences for giving Valaste away against his wishes.

To everyone saying Valaste would be happier with Sheo; turning to insanity is not a good way to deal with your problems. If you save Valaste she thanks you for saving her from the madness, which she calls; "A Fate worse than Death"21 -

I took the skill point and sacraficed valaste on my main (nightblade), and later when I leveled my templar I sacraficed her again, and sent the book to my nightblade, who used it for another skill point. Technically this could be done an unlimited number of times, unless they fixed it.PS4 / NA

✭Save ValasteI had to leave her on my crafter character, it was a hard decision. I feel so sorry for that now since I realized that I can get a lot of skill points and that sacrifice wasn't really nessesary.
Although first time I was doing this quest I saved her from madness. And all other times I saved her because it's the only right option. As one man said "See, of all the afflictions, I can think of none more, more cruel than madness, sir. See, it robs a man of his reason, his dignity, his very soul. And it does so, so slowly, without the remorse of death"One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.
