Noob Sorcerer Help

I'm very new to the game and wanting to run a Sorcerer with Storm Calling. I'm really wanting to get good dps but don't know what weapons to use, what race to choose, etc. I'm guessing light armor and destruction staff but not sure. I know Dark Elf is a good race for Sorc but beyond all that i have no clue what I'm doing :lol:
Right now I'm rolling a Dragonknight Draconic Power as Nord and really hate is xD. Thought it be fun but trying to run around wacking people aint my thing. If Sorc isn't the right way to go I'm really looking for a role where I can stay at a distance and dish out dps while still having fun. Any help is appreciated!

    Storm Calling seems to be Lightning/Shock focussed, in which case Altmer (High Elf) may be a better choice than Dunmer (Dark Elf), since the latter have fire bonuses instead. All staves (destruction and healing) fall broadly in the magicka group so you'll benefit from Light Armour's magicka bonuses. Of the distance weapons, destruction staves will serve you better in the long run than bows (which are stamina oriented anyway).

    @TheRealPotoroo Awesome, this helps a lot! If I was going to choose between Breton and High Elf what would you suggest? I heard Breton has good Magicka just not sure if they're better.

    You need to look at the way the racial bonuses combine with the skill set of the class you're looking at, but most arguments about race/class matching are about the end game and often don't involve big performance differences.

    If you're only playing PVE then Altmer have the edge in my opinion, as they get the same max magicka bonus but better damage and recovery bonuses. I'm not sure that making spell casting 3% cheaper offsets this and the other Breton passives are more PVP oriented (Alliance Points are PVP).

    It’s easy to use and dishes out good damage. Hardest part is keeping your Magicka up (with practice it gets easier, I rarely run out).

    For Sorcs Altmer is generally the best cos if the 2% extra Shock damage over Dunmer and the extra 1% Max Magicka but Dunmer is still a viable option as well and if you eventually went vampire then the extra fire resistance from Dumber will serve you well.
