Necropotance set and max majicka

I haven't really followed the details of build theory but have got rather confused when comparing sets.

Simple question to start with, I thought the 5th piece bonus of the necropotance set increased max majicka when you has any active "pet". As activating a pet has no effect on my max majicka am I right in assuming that this does not apply to non combat pets (the Wikia's only reference to pets is non combat pets) but instead applies only to warden's animal companions and / or sorcerer's summoned creatures?

The other thing that surprised me is while adding a (legendary) epaulettes of necropotance, with a +351 max majicka enchantment added 400 max majicka (or 444 when I had the rest of my armor on) an epic Grothdarr's arm cops increases my max majicka by 1206 despite having a stamina enchantment.

This makes me wonder how is max majicka calculated, as I might need to rethink my gear. I currently have 7 pieces of light I thought 5/1/1 was only a benefit if you had the undaunted passive (I am only level 4 undaunted) but is that correct?

yes the 5/1/1 benefit works along with the undaunted passive.

a pet is a combat pet, not companions.

you get magicka from Grothdarr even tho it has stamina enchant, because the one piece set bonus gives magicka. And it added 400 magicka even tho it says +351 because once equipped the undaunted passive kicked in.

If you have 300CP every magicka you gain from items is buffed by 20% (same for other stats). The only thing not buffed by this is food and... Necropotence 5th piece (i think)

    Thanks

So necropotance is only for sorcerers, I wish the descriptions were clearer but fortunately I do have a magicka DPS sorcerer I can give the set to.

Only just started doing pledges and hadn't realised there was a one piece set bonus, I am used to them starting at 2.

No! It’s not a Sorc only set.

It works for magwardens with the Bear pet.

I also works with magicka nightblades (really well) with the shade pet.

In addition to the above, Necropotence works with other sets that summon a creature or object: Maw of the Infernal, Engine Guardian, Morkuldin Swords, Shadowrend, etc. You don’t have to be a Sorc to wear those ...

It also procs off of the magic warden skill, betty netch. I believe it's the fourth skill in the animal companions line.

summons off of item sets no longer work with necropotence. they used to, but not anymore.

yes I do. its called testing it in game. the best source you can find.

I thought the warden skill line was called Animal companions, and sergykid said companions were not included.

It has certainly caused a lot of confusion

To test it in game you have to get the gear first, hence y desire for game descriptions to be clearer.

For your information, food is buff by cp but all max stat five piece sets, eg, plague, destruction mastery, hulking dragur, green pact, do not get the 20% from cp. Green pact is also funny with igneous shields, it boosts yours but not the ones that go on your allys. Haven't tested trainee.

The max stat mundases, mage, tower and Lord are also not buffed by CP. Makes them even less desirable.
