Just a reminder to ZOS

i just wanted to post a quick reminder to ZOS dev team, to not make the game p2w, in any circumstance, you may see this is as way to get more money, but in the end you'll lose a drastic amount of players, and end up losing the exact thing you wanted to begin with, money, i guarantee that the road to making a financially successful game is by providing a fun experience in which makes players WANT to spend money, instead of a system that makes the player feel that they HAVE to pay money.

i was browsing the forums today and noticed the new research scrolls, and truly, this could be considered slightly p2w to some people, while i think the research scrolls are eh, i'm somewhat on the fence, just remember what makes a good game, and dont forget about what happened to archeage, and battlefront 2 that just came out recently

that is all, thank you

Just to add more info, the research scrolls are obtainable via Vouchers as well, they are not a crown store exclusive. Not sure if this changes your point of view but I just wanted to get all the facts out there.

Absolutely agree. I sub and enjoy playing but when I see the exorbitant cost of crown items (2000 crowns for a broken, limited time only costume right on the heels of the last -still- broken limited time costume) plus the vast quantity of, and continuing allocation of resources into, crown crates, PLUS continual removal of non-limited time content (piebald destrier, pets, etc), and on top of all that continual development of real life money items of convenience, I just get...tired.

Sure, it's pretty much all cosmetic (or skipping stuff you do in game like mount training and research or grinding for motifs) so I don't need it. But I want to spend my crowns. I want to be able to buy things. A crown sub allowance just won't cut it anymore for a lot of content.

And ZOS keeps introducing annoying grinds and then offering ways around that if you just pull out your credit card. At some point, I'll finally accept that I am not the whale or instant gratification customer ZOS wants and will move on.

I never minded that riding lessons and crafting research took as long as they do. I like it actually. I don't like the idea that someone could grind dolmens and get to lv 50 in a few hours AND then also can have 60/60/60 riding lessons AND be 9 trait master crafter with virtually no effort. Some things need to be an investment or you end up like all the people who use console commands in single player, endlessly whining about how easy the game is.

But one thing is clear: they are trying to dismantle the crafting system without announcing "We're dismantling the crafting system," a system which was originally designed to encourage players to invest in it, and thus invest in the game. And many players did, so it would not go over well if they just revamped it and made it so you can be a master crafter overnight. But they probably wish they could and that says volumes. Clearly they are counting on players investing in the game other ways, and not in ways like the crafting system.

ZOS is changing the game on a fundamental level, and I too am counting the days until I cancel my sub as it's looking more and more like a game I'm not interested in spending my time on anymore.
PC-NA since 2015. Tired and unimpressed.

Agreed. I don't mind the time needed. I'm about to hit 9 traits on wood (I took some time off which set me back however many months, lol) and I was happy to get there. I don't make money off crafting; the few times I make stuff for people asking, I make it for free. Sometimes ask for them to have mats if they want nirnhoned or rare styles or cp160 stuff but most people that want crafted gear are people below 40 who want training gear.

When I talk about grind, I mean like motif grind. The drop rates for a lot of DLC motifs are abysmally low so it's no surprise to find them in crown store. Buoyant Armiger was in crown crates! With a couple hundred crates, you'd probably have gotten the book faster than how long it would take you to find them in game. There's working for something and then beating your head against the wall until you knock yourself silly enough to justify 5000 crowns for an in-game motif. Have no doubts that drop rates are working exactly as intended. At least the pages can be traded if you get dupes.

I guess I am weird in the sense that I want to try to earn most thing myself. I don't want it handed to me. I didn't use Breda's mead the first year of new life because I was still a low level toon and didn't want to level faster than I could learn how to effectively play my class. I don't generally buy motif pages unless I've done the events to earn them (then sell or trade my duplicates to fill the holes). But that's what keeps the game fun for me and gives me something to work towards.

Honestly the one single thing for which i will drop my sub soon is the craft bag. It's just too required for playing the game in a chilled and efficient way, for doing writs and so on. I actually don't want to support this marketing strategy.

Edit: Also analyzing, horse training and all this months of rl time consuming stuff is just plain bad game design.
