How to create Unholy Death Knight?

Hello all,

I played a lot of World of Warcraft, my favourite class was Unholy DK, if you know the game and mechanics, no need for explanation, if not, here is short description:

Two handed, heavy armored guy, with a lot of aoe dots, draining health from your victims, while they slowly die (well not that slowly but you know what I mean). I play a magicka sorcerer (still only 145CP), which is nice, but bursty, I want something little more DOTS oriented, so I can kite a groups of enemies in PVE.

Which class you recommend most for this type of gameplay? Or can I create something like this from sorcerer? I am pretty new to this game and really just getting to know how things in this game works. Can you effectively play Magicka character with two handed weapons?

I will be really thankful for any advice.

Go with a nightblade in heavy. I would recommend doing a 1h/shield setup instead of 2h if you're ok with that. Essentially a magicka tank build.

Run high magicka recovery and mag recovery food/drink. Use strife and refreshing path for draining life from enemies. Combine the leeching plate and bahraha's curse sets, both of which deal damage to enemies while healing you. Use sap essence for area damage and healing. Use dark shades as pets that can debuff enemies and get a little damage in.

That build was what I ran on my nightblade, and could solo almost anything in pve and wasn't half bad in PvP (unkillable though no burst damage to speak of).

A 2hand would really add nothing to that build though, I ran 1h/shield on both bars for different skills while tanking. That setup can pull half of skyreach no problem.

I actually tried this before, it was on a Stamblade and I used 5 Heavy on Body but I used 5x Widowmaker and Damage Health poison (Jewelry, 1 Front Bar 2H, and 1 Belt) then I did 5x Eternal Hunt on the back Bar (Dual Wield maces 1 was Eternal Hunt, Other was widow, then the rest was 4x heavy on the body) with 2x Heavy Velidreth. Tried to focus a lot on damaging their life force through Nightblade skills and poison from sets, poisons on weapons, and some weapon skills.

Stamina nightblade with 2h feels a bit like dk. Not a lot of dots tho. For more dots you have to go magica which means using staves. Both builds can work with heavy armor.

Using a 2h for magica builds is not an option imo. But there are some magic abilities which can be morphed to work with stamina.

You don't kite groups in PvE, the tank holds them still. Even when I soloed world bosses I didn't kite them I mostly stood still and just sidestepped the heavy hits.

However nightblade tank does seem like the best option, there are few dots in a nightblades kit and the build typically also uses Bahraha's Curse set which adds another dot.

Nightblade tanks are fully hybrid and use sword and board front and resto staff back bar.

Don't kite mobs in PvE.

Ok, I wont kite them, just kill them, but sometimes to solo some realy hard elites, kiting would be nice :-)

Resto: Healing ward, cloak, double take, shades, refreshing path, tether

Stam DK will most closely resemble unholy. NB tank will most closely resemble blood. Nothing really for Frost.

I'm almost afraid that you'll venture into what has been nerfed into the ground. A Nightblade SAP Tank. Please look it up.

The Nightblade class has plenty of Dot's, as well as mechanics to SAP enemies health, however the last years class ,skill, & mechanic balancing have gutted the classes Resource generation while in Heavy Armor while Casting the skills you'd need to be effective.

We all had that dream...

What about a warden? That should be good for frost dk?

Possibly, though none of it will work well with a 2h weapon either.

Closed will be NB - But " Ala this playstyle " is still a dream
