tough choice, they both have some absolutely awesome class skills...

i've played magplar longer, their better support characters with their predisposition to heal...

you can build around total dark, jabs and the jesus beam and have an absolute blast...all while trolling folks with a hard to kill healbot..

right now though - i'm having more fun on my mag dk...mostly cuz he's tanky, can do damage and most importantly - the flames, lots and lots of flames :p

the cons - neither are really "stealthy" characters...it seems with the mag dk you have to be more aware of maintaining your stamina for break free and blocking...

If solo, you picked the worst two classes since neither are the quick bursty type, a la NB/Warden. But both have their own uses.

    Magplar:
    +Can get nice damage
    +Purge
    +Very high heals
    -Scaling bugs
    -Low/no effective lockdown
-Low mobility, partial remedy in purge.
    -Bad ultimates

    MagDK
    +High damage potential
    +High lockdown
    +Heals whilst attacking
    +/-Tanky playstyle is meta.
    -Buggy
    -Worst mobility
    -Bad sustain
    -No execute

If grouped, magplar is important in nearly all instances as a healer and support. Purge, execute, backlash, eclipse (Can be subbed for warden if just small grouped fun) MagDK does well in small group as an annoyer/debuff build, tanking, rooting, snaring, but is phased out at higher numbers.

    Some good builds:
    MagDK heavy: Shey
    MagDK light: @DDuke
    Magplar: @Blobsky

These all have variations, just posting my favorites in terms of info. I run different on my DK. Magplar is actually would personally run, since I haven't seen much better minmax wise.

    sounds about right.

Though templar lockdown is through unstable core; but highly situational. It can turn the tide if you can pull smaller fights.

i know some templars go dual weld/snb, but I would never do that post-morrowind, not when you face builds that can get higher dmg/regen stacking all without dropping too much stamina. You lose ele drain going that snb route, which is vital for adding magplar sustain/dmg and the ice staff backbar is the same defense as SNB (aside from mobility from holding block and the ranged block passive).

Another downside is that templars can't easily switch from defense to offense but you can add things to help:
    - overwelming surge
    - unstable core + WoE
    - purfying light
Dual weld is clutch though for front bar. Nirn+sharp though 2h lets you slot forward momentum for 8 seconds of snare immunity with an ultimate that also grants snare immunity.

and finally, all of our damage is delayed, but PVE folks had our best AOE defense replaced with jesus beam. Therefore, you have to stack more defenses compared to other classes. Even DK's can get around being tanky, since they have major expedition and instant cast whips. Jabs/sweeps without proper passive defenses, means your dead 9/10 encounters.

A brainless class vs a class actually need some skills, ofc i chose brainless magplar.

They both can do well. A lot of it comes down to your play style. Magplar has some better passive synergies and in my opinion is a little more easy to play well.

MDK has a lot of wonky passives and class skills that you'll never use, but is a lot more challenging to play it well. A lot of people don't like playing them for that reason. Especially when there are easy-mode options like sorcs and wardens.
