hi, I'm new to the game still, I only have about a week into game and I still can't decide what class I want to make my main. Right now I have a MagDK and a MagSoc both are around level 27-30, I enjoy playing them both about the same an since I'm still learning the mechanics of the game I'm not to sure which class would do better damage, I'm looking to play both pve and pvp with whichever I choose. if anyone has any thoughts on this I would greatly appreciate hearing them.

I think magSorc is a little better right now for damage. MagDK also requires you to be up close, while Sorc is fully ranged and easier to play.

Magsorc is still king of castle in pve dps. Best survivability with conj ward (stronger then annulment) pets are good for solor clanfear tanks and aggros mobs.

They are pulling some of the best numbers end game. And are just new player friendly. Conjur ward n clanfear heal can carry you a long way lol.

yea I noticed sorcerer is a lot easier to play, its really repetitive lol I'm around level 33 with my sorcerer an I think 26-28 with DK but I honestly think my DK is getting better numbers than the sorcerer, if I was to guess id say that's either caused by the fact I probably have my bars set up wrong or the gear I have been getting. the last day or two I have been enjoying running my DK with a staff on one bar an dual wield on the other he seems to hit hard on both, good sustainability on my mag I leave in the self heal and spam if I need to, and its actually fun using dual weapons lol.

Nope, mag sorc is almost impossible to pull 45k single target dps in trial, good stam dk can pull 55k and stam dk is clearly not a very hard class.

Time for my spiel about leveling:

    First Time Leveling Strategy:

First leveling character? Forget about Builds right now. No need, your handicapped anyway by the game so you are way more powerful than you need to be. Instead take advantage of this buff to properly level your character so you can be deadly when it matters later on when you are not buffed by the level scaling. In other words, you can create a rotation that makes you think your all that and a biscuit because of the scaling buffs, then get a rude awakening come Champ Ranks when you are on your own.

So, right now if your wearing any gear, the mobs will die.

    1. Have one class skill on your bar at all times, swapping them out once the skill reaches Morph stage. Worry about your Morphs later.
    2. Have one weapon skill on your bar at all times, again until Morph stage
    3. Wear a mix of all 3 armor types so they all level about equally
    4. From L1 to L20, invest in attack skills and actives
    5. From L20 to L35 start investing in Passives and Support Skills
    6. From L35 to L50 start investing in Morphs (but only if all your class skills are at the Morph Stage), Passives and Crafting Skills
7 From CP10 to CP160 try out dropped sets to see which ones fit your playstyle, don't worry about traits right now, fill in passives and actives you may have missed
    8. Grind on Dolmens to level your Fighters Guild, or find the Lore Books to level Mages Guild
    9. Do some stealing to level Legerdemain, best source for money in the game
    10. Decon every piece of gear you get that you are not going to use immediately to level equipment crafting, no need to invest skills points until Champ Ranks.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

The mag sorc is probably a more fun build,to continue on with. Stam sorts are awesome. Stamblades...personal preference. Magblades have great dps.

For me, Both magic and stam DKs are a little boring. At least, until you start earning Champion Points and can boost their dps. If you put your dk on the shelf for now, bring it back when you have a couple hundred CPs on your account (it won’t take as long as it sounds) and you’ll be surprised how much better their dps is.

At your current level you’re probably ready to start learning some of the intermediate strategies and mechanics. Here’s some tips...maybe you know all of this, but in case it helps. This is focused on your magsorc and dps.

    - you want to be keeping major sorcery up for your 20% power boost...very important. You should be close to unlocking surge/power surge. Once you do, use it almost all the time.

    - major prophesy is slightly less important, but worth a ~5% boost to dps. Your best source is having magelight on your front bar. It’s often worth sacrificing a slot for this boost. If you take the inner light morph, you also get 5% more magic. Remember, the more magic you have the harder you hit. A 5% boost to magic on a vet toon is worth about 2000 more magic, which is equivalent to ~200 more spell power. A lot of players slot inner light because that’s a lot of free firepower even if you don’t need the skill itself.

    - as you get closer to vet, applying aoes and dots become more important. Sorcs have boundless storm, and blockade on the Destro staff is also good. Start playing with stacking your attacks, it’ll boost your dps.

    - if you haven’t discovered it, force pulse is a good attack skill that makes the rotation feel a little less tedious. Some sorc players don’t find this skill, but it’s a good one.

    Good luck!

Both are super fun, but you'll get a little better DPS with the magsorc. I have both. Sorc also has excellent passive skills.
With a sorc, be sure to get the skill "Surge" and morph it to "Power Surge" when you're able to. It's a super nice heal for you while you're fighting, plus it increases your spell damage, too.

I had a question about slotting the magelight skill, I'm wondering if I need to have it slotted in both bars to keep iuns to magic in both my rotations or will slotting it in one bar give me bounds to both?
