The 50+ run...

Hail and well met, all,

I had asked a similar question earlier regarding gearing up in game... but this is a bit different than my previous question.

I have the mats and everything I'd need, so I may as well use them.

I just hit 50 and I'm wondering if I make a set of Lvl 50 crafted armor/weapons, (with Training trait), will that effectively carry me through CP 160? Or should I replace it with new Training trait gear every X levels?

I only PvE and pretty much solo... so none of those hardcore dungeon/raid content.

Thanks for your help.

Thank you.

Take care,

I once grinded lvl 3-50 with level 3 purple training gear and it was ok. I believe it should be ok in your case too. That exp percentage bonus will always work as long as the gear is not broken but you will be underpowered due to your gear outleveled. Though this shouldn't be a big problem, overland content is easy anyways.

I went from level 16 to 160 CP with just level 16 training gear. I also did a lot of spell scar leeching and dolmen running.

I suggest going for sets that has a built-in utility rather than flat stat bonus, such as tavas and spectre's eyes and couple more. This will minimise the negative effect of outleveled gear due to these utilities have fixed amount of bonuses (major/minor) at all levels.

Really wish people would stop saying this as a general fact. I've seen many a newer player throw themselves against a brick wall of a trash mob that I'd only need to hit once with a Lethal Arrow. If you don't have the CP or the Gear, or the experience, then it's not easy.

I'd swap to a higher gear set whenever you start to feel really squishy. Below level 50, that means I swap every 5-10 levels because right around when I'm 7 levels above my armor, I start feeling really squishy like I'm taking a lot more damage than I used to. That's my sign that it might be time for an armor change.

When I am leveling a new character every 15-20 levels I go to a zone and do a few dolmen and just wear whatever is dropped. Haven't had to do champion points in a long time though and wasn't in a hurry to level.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

After lvl50 there are a couple of ways to equip gear to level more quickly.
    1. Craft some armour of your preferred set - CP10/training trait/in blue or purple. Same again at CP50 and CP100.
    2. Run round a starter island and collect Trainee Set - will drop for your current level, and repeat once a week. This way gives the additional option of Trainee Jewelry.
Trainee set will increase all your base stats whereas crafted will be more geared to your class. Both give 10% additional XP per kill per armour piece in purple. So 5x gives 50% extra. Personally I would not bother with weapons in training trait.
Both are ideal for overland mobs/delves and public dungeons, but you might wish to swap out for a proper set for harder content. Use an add-on like Iakoni's Gear Changer to easily change sets.
I'm currently doing both ways. On NA I've set a goal for CP1000 (nearly CP900 now) and use crafted with training trait - and on EU I'm CP660 with goal of CP690 (CP720 next month) and using 5x Trainee set. Not very much difference between the two - dungeon mobs give 20 to 25k XP each with enhanced. Bosses are mean - only 1.5k.
    Have fun out there.
