I Offer free bites, and if I’m on cooldown I’ll show where they spawn naturally.

There are some good people in the game.

nothing that's a scam about it. they literally charge real money for it, and players can only use it once per week; so how is it out of line to ask for money? Frankly I don't actually ask for money but I've only ever bittenpeople 1 or 2 times and nto been compensated.

Who charges real money for it?

The "in the wild" werewolf spawns and bloodspawns charge you before attempting to kill and eat you? "They" don't charge for it.

Back in the beginning, some "really wonderful" /sarcasm players would form groups and kill all the spawns so no one could get bitten "in the wild". Then these "really wonderful" players would charge for bites, up to 50k [not a small amount in early days of the game]. Some really special ones not only charged other players for a bite, they scammed them out of the gold and didn't bite them. After a lot of complaints on the forum about players griefing/blocking content from others the bites showed up in the crown store, as a kind of "last resort" for players who couldn't get past the "really wonderful" extortionists.

I have 14 characters; 12 are maxed ww, two are working on it. I always give bites for free, for however many players want one. The chance to get bitten is FREE in the game, and only ended up in the crown store due to the "really wonderful" players who tried to block content intended to be free in the game. I will accept tips for crafting work, but not for giving out bites.

Ah yes, I remember the good old days back at launch. I started playing on Xbox the day ESO launched. Back then getting vampirism and lycanthropy was ridiculously difficult because of the griefers who would kill them the second they popped up and then ask for a ridiculous sum of gold for a bite. But I do remember spending in-game nights hanging out in Reapers March (primarily near the Dune wayshrine), there would literally be 50+ people hanging out near sunset waiting to see if bloodfiends or werewolves would spawn. Lots of friendly zone chat happened back then as we all waited. I went to Dune last night (when it was night in-game) to look for bloodfiends before actually asking for a bite in chat and there wasn't a soul around. At this point I'm not sure if people look for bites on their own at all before asking, and honestly wonder how many new players know they even exist.

One day bloodthirsty elves sieged Glade, and were so many I had to unpack and shoot two ballistas to check their progress. Then some kind player came and took care of one ballista, so I did not have to run between them and shoot one while the other reloaded. I was very moved by this act of kindness, which was only eclipsed a while later, when elves were pushed a bit back but revived at tent and I again had to unpack and shoot two ballsistas to avert otherwise certain defeat, and, believe it or not, the same kind player came to my aid and again took care of one ballista! That was truly a day full of emotions, even by Cyrodiil standards.

I use to help low levels, because without new low levels - I won't have new people to kill in PVP! LOL

No, seriously. I like doing kind things, like:
If I see someone asking to buy like low level crafting materials and what not, I usually send them a stack or so.
If I'm leveling some new toon at some popular grinding spot, and some obvious new player wants to group with me, I will invite to trade and give them a couple of Psijic Ambrosia.
If someone asks for help to kill some world boss, I usually go there if I am close and have time.
If someone in my Alliance asks for a Dubious or Witchmother's while in Cyrodiil, I usually send them a couple or more.
If someone asks for crafted gear in area chat and I have some spare time, I usually help. If they offer payment right from the start, I take none - but do it for free and don't accept neither gold or materials in return.
If someone asks to buy specific set gear in area chat (Necropotence while in Rivenspire and so on), I either sell it cheap or just send it without any topic or message. I know how frustrating grinding gear is, and how happy I would have been if that purple ring just for dropped for free in my mailbox all suddenly, just like that.

What I don't do, is give gold. I can hardly imagine the type of people actually asking for gold, I mean wtf... I don't want to encourage that lazy a** behavior. That doesn't float my boat, lazy and greedy people are among the worst things I know.

This is my first mmo, I started playing because I loved the other Elder Scrolls games. I got to quite a high level just solo questing. Never looked at Undaunted because I knew it was groups so didn't have a clue how it worked other than being kind of aware that that was where you could get the monster sets.

First time I ever joined the group finder was just on impulse. It put me in a normal dungeon on the last boss which I completed with the group.

After I left I got a whisper from the tank offering to run it again for the pledge. Had to admit it was my first pug and I had no idea how pledges work. He then spent the rest of the evening talking me through everything undaunted, running the pledges with me and giving me advice on which chest I wanted and what monster set to look out for for my character.

This is the encounter that sticks out to me most but I have to say one of the reasons I love this game is that there are so many friendly people about. Have met so many nice people and I can't actually think of any particularly negative experiences.

Maybe it's because I play during the day rather than evenings weekends and it's a friendlier time of day!

I hate blowing my own trumpet, so I'll say when i first began playing this game some random dude bought me a mount and crafted me 2 sets of purple training gear without me even asking for anything. I merely stated in chat that it was a pain walking from one end of the area to another (was Auridon) during a general conversation with someone else back when it was only voice chat on console. The guy piped up asking what lvl i was and sent me gear for the then and now and another set for 15 lvl's later.

All he asked for in return was that I help others when I was in a position to do so. I like to think I've kept that promise.

A lot of the bad eggs in the game are probably people who were screwed over by others themselves when they first started, whether it was having to pay for bites or just outright theft of items or gold.

Kindness for me was the organized groups that picked up a newbie PUG in Cyrodiil day after day. I learned how to play in Cyrodiil largely off of their coattails until I got good enough to stand on my own two feet. But by then, I'd played with one of those groups enough that when they asked me if I wanted to join their guild, I figured I might as well.

Fast forward a year and I'm still playing with them. I'm a much better PVPer now than I was then, in large part due to their training and when Midyear Mayhem happened, I got to pay that forward by playing and grouping with a lot of newbie players myself.

When one member of the group I was leading around the mep ring early in the morning said "Wow, PVP is fun with an army!" that took me right back to the days when I was that person, hoping to join a group that could do something because I was pretty helpless on my own.

Those organized raids I PUGged with helped me learn to love PVP. The guild I joined trained me, gave me a good group of friends, and has made me able to hop into Cyrodiil on a whim and solo, PUG, small scale or raid whenever I want to. Its no lie to say that starting to PVP has easily added another year of playtime to my enjoyment of this game.

So to all of you who pick up PUGs in PVP and give them a few hours of enjoyable PVP, I salute you. That kindness made a huge difference in how I play the game.

I give ww and vamp bites free. I make research pieces for free, except for nirnhorned (but if they give me the nirn, it's free). I warn people about flippers in zone chat trying to rip off people. I will send food, lockpicks, repair kits to the desperate. I help people farm gear in dungeons. I help out newer players struggling to get mats for writs, either give them mats free or at a very low price.

Sadly one thing I no longer do--and it's because of bots--is make training gear. I used to make lowbie training gear for free, but now too many people are paying bot runners to level up their toons by putting them in training gear and just adding them to the bot train, and since that's a practice I cannot support and i don't want to interrogate people over how they are leveling their toons or ask if they are running bots, I don't make anyone training gear anymore.

There are occasions I will give another player gold but I never give gold to beggars. That's extremely discourteous to other players to expect that they should give up gold they've spent the time getting just because some beggar doesn't want to do it themselves. That's not the kind of people I want in the community, so I don't give them anything.

One time someone was asking for Gold, and it was not a large amount, in Zone Chat. We happened to be in Daggerfall, so I offered to group up, and showed that person the two ships in Daggerfall and the Outlaw Refuge, explained the Legerdemain System, the Trafficer Passive and turned them loose. They were appreciative.

It’s a scam in the sense that bites can occur naturally. But rather than tell people about it, they ask for gold.

Be kind. Help other players out. WW is pretty useless anyway for most content other than dinking around with friends.

When people beg for gold, I usually say "The only people I give gold to are my friends. But I will gladly give you advice about how to make quick money in the game using guild stores or zone chat."

If someone actually needs the money for a horse, for example, they'll take the advice and farm for materials and reagents and be well on their way to making money for anything else they need in the game.

As for my friends, I spend the most time farming mats, so when the festival hits and they're like "Well, time to farm for mats so I can buy the Witches Cottage," I can be like "Oh, that's only 250k, right? Here you go!"

I like to think I'm one of the nice ones playing, haha. I love challenging content, and always have. I personally don't like starting something, and not finishing it. Yeah, I'm that guy in a PUG that will stick it out for 4 hours trying to help people clear vet Falkreath, vet Bloodroot, etc. Last week I must have wasted about 160 soul gems reviving people on the last boss of vet Falkreath alone.

About 2 weeks ago I hopped in a PUG for vRoM and at the end we were all talking about builds and stuff, and someone wanted so gear crafted, which I offered to do for him for free. He had no mats, and no gold to buy them. I ended up making him a full set of CP160 light/medium/heavy mixture, and a few weapons, upgraded them all to purple, and we parted ways. Perhaps he was lying, perhaps he wasn't... who knows.

I've given away more gold trials jewelry than I can count, and numerous lighting IA staffs/VO weapons. Most people are still trying to sell those to the group for 100k - 200k+; it's quite sad.

Outside of some chill people in groups though, I haven't had anyone ever go out of their way for me personally. Perhaps I just never warranted the good gesture in the first place. I will say that I have met my fair share of toxic, elitist players though - more often than one would imagine. Moral of the story is, there are toxic people, and even less nice people in the game which is why posts like this don't make it to the forums often, and there aren't many in here sharing their stories. If this was a toxic player experience thread, we'd be on page 10 already. This type of attitude really kind of goes with this type of genre though.

I think this game is wonderful. It's my first MMO and while it took me about a year before I really got into the social aspect, I've always tried to be generous if I have extra stuff or extra gold. I did send someone enough gold to buy a mount once and if someone asks for crafting mats, I'll send them when I can. I just try to treat people the way I would want to be treated.
