@ ZOS a question about spell/phys penetration

Why does it not show the total on the character sheet?.. I get that its simply a process of getting out a calculator and adding things up but just why is there not a function in the game that does it for you? A similar function exists for resistances yet penetration gets overlooked is there a reason?

There are add-ons for PC which show extended stats but yeah, this is something which next time they do a UI update could be added to the character sheet.

Yeah I'm aware of the add-ons for pc but that option is totally invalidated for console, would be a nice QoL upgrade for console players and for ZOS to hook into their own api functions then its not much more than a few hours work for one person.

I've said this before but it totally blows my mind that such an important stat is not readily available on the character sheet for console players. Terrible oversight by ZoS and that it hasn't been added in the 4 years the game has been in existence is downright laughable.

To be fair, there do exist developer teams out there who take the "we are not going to show you every statistic in the game" tack.

Some do it not to "overload" the player (figuring a majority of their target audience is of the casual player type). Others take what they believe to be an anti-munchkin stand (i.e. "just play, don't powergame"). Others still believe they show players "enough" and there is no need to murder the interface just to include every single internal cooldown and whatsit.

Players may agree or disagree with these stances, and of course it is very game-specific. I do agree that in this game certain things like penetration ought to have been included on the character sheet (never mind explained via tutorials!), because there are crafted weapons, skills, and The Lover mundus that explicitly increase this stat. I.e. if you show something that increases a stat, you should also show the whole stat, it's a basic design approach. But...it has been years, and they haven't done anything on a whole mess of UI issues. So either it is low priority, or they like having players do all the work and build UI add-ons...

It's accessible through the api so the intention is that it was not meant to be hidden.. its a stat that is as vital as your health, stamina, magicka, spell, crit and physical resistances etc all of which are shown by default.

We didn’t even have damage numbers or health bar info for the longest time. Don’t hold your breath.
