Really ? (so much for immersion)

laracroft4sakn
So, I always here immersion brought up in defense of potentially new interesting mechanics. I am sure you have either seen or used this excuse as well. Which is fair to a point as I understand that this game has put a lot of time into making it an interesting experience. I would even say the enemies scaling is a HUGE boon to this as it ensures a difficult character doesn't become weak just because you've been leveling somewhere. Granted enemies get easier, but there is no real ROLLING over anything like other MMOs. Which I greatly appriciate. And, the quests for the most part seem to have some work behind them; this is all kind of darkened to me by little discoveries.
This has already gone on longer than I intended, but the main point is after traveling through Tamriel there are SEVERAL things that stand out as just lazy and thoughtless. I will give you an example; the below images are of a little pond in Mournhold. The creators want me to believe that someone built a shipyard and dock with three active boats (and some being fixed?) in the the dock area for that little ass pond? I know it is a bit pedantic, but honestly my brain doesn't allow me to care about the game at that level with things like this. What I would LOVE is if the creator of this area replied here as to WHY they chose to allow someone to create this? This is the type of thing I would expect form an FPS background not an Elder Scrolls game. If you think this is an isolated incident ask I will show you MANY MANY little defects to their world.
Disclaimer I am only posting this to see if I am alone with these frustrations and hopefully for some feedback from the creators, however, I am not holding my subscription hostage or anything ridicules. I just end up playing the game as an arcade trying to get the BEST STATS possible type thing. Which is fine, but it would create a lot more engagement for me if people would soften these edges.

    Fishing boats.

Um, I guess. At least that's the only explanation I can think of. Maybe the fish are too scared to come near the dock there.

    The answer's pretty obvious.

Deshaan only has one major waterway entrance to its east, surrounded by hostiles. It makes more sense to train basic nautical skills within the city walls before sending otherwise inexperienced men and women into potential combat situations.

Its a Fishing Pond. Since we don't have reels in Tamriel, you can't cast to where the fish are, you have to go to where the fish are and drop your hook in.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

A lot of the game world doesn't make sense if you analyze it much - food but no outhouses, right? No children, which is ok because nobody ages and in fact they don't even go home at night and sleep. It's a nice background though, and it has its own internal logic. Kinda.

I'm sure the Deshaan boat builder had a reason. Or a really insistent delusion. Maybe Uncle Sheo was involved? There's a story there...

Hmm... I didn't give attention to these boats and shipyard. Now I see it's actually very strange disign decision. Moreover, this "lake" in front of Tribunal temple is like 10-20 cm depth, which makes these boats even more ridiculous thing.

What are you doing here? The topic clearly says it's about immersion things, and looks like you don't care about such things. So, what's the point to write something here?
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

Not what you expect in an Elder Scrolls title?

So you can tell me how the Blackwater Brigands were able to sail the Bloated Float when you can't even swim out of Lake Rumare?

The answer to all this is of course magicka. Everyone on the planet can use it. If it doesn't make sense, magicka.

I thought about that, but the pond is SOO small that it is highly unlikely any useful training could be had here. Plus, there are many decisions like this. I would like to know that when the person designing this area made these decisions it had some logic behind it besides just random assortment; I would hope they are building something for me to deconstruct like a REAL story and world, but these things make me feel like there is no real content.. I spend many an hour on this game and get to know things quite well, so it would be nice if the lore story and logic was well thought out [like a movie or book no?]. Again this is just one example of such inconsistencies..Is it possible I can still vehemently agree with my original post and thoughts, but find these replies hilarious. To highlight my favorite..

The first image the boat is a flat bottom boat and only needs a few inches of water. All the fish and poles have me thinking the boat is used for fishing. The other boats are really small (compare them to the benches) so you wouldn't want them on a large body of water. Just right for kids to play around on in a pond though. Of course the children are all off playing hide and seek so the boats are not currently being used.

Yeah but who would waste the time building a boat launch area, or dock building just for that small ass pond?

Yeah, that's a "thing". People put boats on any old body of water they can. "Look at my boat"! :p There's a guy just down the road from me that has a ~20' sailboat in a ~30' pond! The thing could sink (maybe it already has?) and it couldn't go any lower, as it must already be on the bottom!

Maybe they build small boats there and test whether they will take on water in a shallow, controlled area of water. Since they're so small, they could carry them to the river after its been completed. At least there if it sinks, they can easily drag it back out to find the problem.

as far as outhouses. folks. look under beds one of these days. you will notice chamber pots. in medieval cities, they didn't have outhouses for most people, they had chamber pots. I'm actualy more amazed at the fact that given existence of chamber pots, streets are still clean. then again... there are sewers, so possibly designated "empty pots here" areas?
