Why do you think we don't have jewelcrafting?

Jewellery crafting was initially in the game during the earliest closed beta (pc) and proved to be easily exploitable, since then sets have been introduced and there is no real need for it.

    I think it’s a simple answer.

Enchanting and metal working would be where this would happen but this game doesn’t use two seperate professions for crafting so.......that’s why.

I don’t think it’s anything more than this.

Ideally they’d want to merged parts of enchanting into metal working.

Then the left over would just be enchanting and they’d add spell crafting.

I believe the two things ppl ask for require drastic changes and they never changes crafting to mirror the level scaling update.

-level scaling crafted items (not transmog)
-actually add transmog not artwork crafting (limited to crafting limitations)
    -add spell crafting
-add jewelry crafting with major changes as a result of spell crafting.

Look at the guild store slots. There needs to be a logical way to replace existing vs adding a whole bunch of new stuff. Requires a bunch of decisions that maybe are just easy to avoid right now.

Too hard to balance - didn't they tell us this already?

There's no problems with motifs or armour traits - jewellery don't have those. They could make up some new stones gained when refining and use the standard metals to give jewellery a level, with metal tempers used as usual.

So I don't see much of a technical challenge (not like introducing nirn and a new trait). It's all about the balance.

Ok simple system that could make jewelry improvement work and not crush the need to gain jewelry in the first place. So you find a green ring of "stuff", right now you sell that cuz it's green and who has time for crap like that? What i propose is using the established OMG additive i need more of what to improve what method. 2 identical green rings combine to form a blue ring, then you need 4 blue rings to make a purple ring, then you would need 8 purple rings to make it gold. There would still be a need to farm those blue rings from normal dungeons if you ever wanted to improve them, and same for purple vet rings.
As far as crafted sets, They should just put them into the dolman loot/ chest loot for zones those crafting stations are in. DLC areas would just be chests, or add them to WB drops. Same method of improvement i mentioned earlier. Still grind-ish but at least doable, and it could create market space for this too. As far as what skill it requires just make there no skill but rather a piece of furniture called the Smelter, and have one conveniently located in the center of the Newest DLC zone free to all that have access.
    Ummm stuff… about stuff…or something.

There are plenty of players that don't hold true crafting in high regard and with the upcoming changes that number is only gonna go up. Between actual development and balance it could take some time to implement such a system.

It would enable more options adding more variety to play-styles. And would make some of use who would rather further our crafts feel like were not wasting our time, instead of finding friends to help/carry them all the way to military-clipart-gold-star-2.jpg

TBH I don't really even want jewelry crafting, I want jewelry IMPROVING. let me dump 8 tempering alloys into each piece to bring them to gold.

Probably the smartest thing ever posted on these forums.

Purple sunder neck is just pissin me off. Would be great to improve it. Why is this not a thing ZOS??????????

This will never be implemented. If it ever is it won't be anything you people are hoping it would be.

Dropped sets are end game and for the most part better than crafted sets.

Because if they already implemented everything in the game that we wanted what would we have to look forward to? Simply put, they need to save some of these things for future updates otherwise the game would lose longevity.

I think this is the real reason we didn't get some basic MMO features Day 1. I think they wanted to parse them out slowly to use over the years and use them behind paygates.

People celebrating changing gear appearance 4 years after launch when it was a Day 1 feature for so many MMOs is kind of funny though.

I think it's more of a "save for future expansion" feature. Besides spellcrafting, this was the only other major QOL feature they talked about shortly after launch that hasn't been implemented as far as I recall.

But I agree with the other posters regarding the difficulty of implementing the system from a balance perspective, especially considering there will probably be a few dozen new sets in the game by the time it would be released.

Because the guy who was doing it left/gotfired (who knows exactly) and then it got put on the backburner.

Actually too be fair I am not sure whether that was spell-crafting or jewellery crafting. Should also remember that doing it now or any later than it was planned would create some serious issues with the game and would result in a lot of overhauls.

I honestly believe they are saving it to make the game more fresh when it is announced. And it will do that forsure just like how they balanced traits around and made game really refreshing. Or when they added constitution passive to heavy armor which changed the game forever.

These drastic changes need to be implemented from time to time to keep the game innovative and fresh.

Jokes aside, they will introduce it. It just needs a lot of work like re-balancing and introducing the system.

I think they'll get around to it eventually. It probably keeps getting bumped for other more pressing work. The plan is to have at least one major new feature/system each year, and jewelry crafting is an ace up their sleeves which they can play when the time is right.

They probably see it as a way to force us into investing more play time into content just so the RNG can drop the Jewelry eventually. If we could craft or improve Jewelry we'd only need to run a Dungeon or Trial however many times necessary for the pieces to drop once, no matter the quality, then we'd just improve what we got and never have to go back.

I cannot provide a link but I think Zos stated about a year ago concerns about how it would affect the game.

Regardless of that, I think it is just they do not have the resources to put into it though I would expect with the value added aspect chapters brought it could be added with a future chapter.

Rich alluded to this on one ESO live, saying where are we going to get the raw matierials from? Personally, I think this issue is rather de minimus, the crafting sets are not really that good to begin with compared to the farmed sets.

We could get the materials solely from deconstructing looted jewelry. It would make for some interesting opportunities for sets, and provide the ability to temper/upgrade existing jewelry. For example, decon could yield one ingot of gold, etc., or one gem (garnet-diamond)...

Not that I think it necessarily belongs there, but woodworking has a bunch of room and feels empty to my ocd, as it only has staves(3), shields and bows, where clothing and blacksmithing have 14 items each.
The only thing out of place would be that the 6 levels of jewelry gems stop after diamond, and there are 10 levels of other mats continuing on with different mats through cp. Not a problem, necessarily, just a lack of symmetry.

Would be interesting to see if they could implement at least jewelry retooling, if not full crafting.
