Better for DPS/Healing dual class - Warden or Templar?

So I would like to have a single class for both DPS and Heals. Now I understand I will need different gear for each setup and I will use different skills.

What I am wondering is who is better overall for DPS and which is better for Healing? I know it is all player dependant but just a general overview for an average player, which is better at each role?

Right now I get the impression that Templar is still a better healer but it sounds like both are lousy for DPS.

Also if anyone has a link for any guides for these that would be great. I found Alcasts just hoping to read a few more.

LOL Ok so I actually had this impression from everything I have read.

My question then becomes, are Templar Magicka DPS any good? I hear they are in a very bad place.

They are good, if not the best thing out there. You can pull decent numbers on a Magplar if you get the rotation down.

Though if anything other than a Magicka Nightblade will even work as a DPS once Update 17 comes out all depends on today’s PTS patch.

The only one you got wrong there is Tank, Wardens make far superior tanks.

To the OP, if you want to do both definitely go Templar. But, please keep in mind you will need to change your CP distributions to remain competitive in the harder content.

Yeah I figure for vet dungeons/pledges I would use a basic setup for both. If I start getting into trials I would be switching CP points as needed.

Now does anyone have a good guide for the dual purpose Templar by chance? Just wondering if people still use dual wielding at all or would it generally be destroy/resto staves for everything. Would it be 5/1/1 light armor or 5/0/2 or 7/0/0?

Neither actually. I can do about 10k HPS while sustaining 30k+ DPS on a magicka nightblade with refreshing path, funnel health, and sap essence

I play solo pve and don't care about min/max so I probably won't be of too much help. However I have a Khajiit magplar who uses destro/rest and does quite well. I'm only lvl 30 with him but had a blast even in pvp (which I usually hate) healing people in the group...and managing to actually get kills. I am having a lot of fun overall with this character.

If you wanna do both Sorc Healer.

There's a build in player guides, good enough for Vet Trials.

But for dungeons etc I hugely prefer it to Templar as your side DPS is so good.

Saying Templars or Wardens are 'Lousy' for DPS is an overstatement.

Unless you want to join a hardcore vet trial run you'll be just fine either way.

That said I'd look at Nightblades personally.

I would love to have a NB Healer I just really don't think I could do it. It seems much more complicated and harder to keep everyone up

Definitely Templar, use SuperStar to switch between healing and DD CPs quickly, you can even set it up to do morphs for you. I do this all the time.

Its not as complicated as you think. Keep funnel health hots rolling, keep refreshing path down, keep mutagen up, maelefic offering on the tank or yourself, healing ward for oh *** moments. Once you understand the strength of your hots (they are stronger than any other healer) and how they keep your party up, you will realize just how easy it is. Throw on troll king and you are the blood magic resto druid healer of eso. Its quite nice actually

I do fine on mine, but that's just low level dungeon. I don't know how they perform when doing trial dungeons.

Safe bet would be SPC jewelry and 2 small armors, Julianos x5-Resto and Lightning staves, Heavy Chest, Medium Legs, Light other 2 slots. 1 Iceheart (Light)shoulder.

What about race? I was leaning to Breton for sustain but Argonians have nice sustain with potion useage it looks like plus slightly better healing. Bretons seem like they have higher magic pool and better resists

    For Healer you want Templar.

For DPS, Templar and Warden are similar but only as long as Warden can use their Eternal Guardian, which is an inherent disadvantage to their AoE and also they can’t always slot it. Templar is the better DPS too atm and absolutely stronger than Warden next patch with the Jesus Beam fix.

If you want to have a DPS who puts out offheals and is amazing go Mag NB.
