If you chase super-effectiveness, you will forever be at the mercy of the inevitable nerfing. Because anything that stands out as more effective then the average is -just- the kind of thing they would hit with the nerfhammer...
Stop worrying about it, and play whatever you like!
That said, dunmer are pretty generic, they do of course mesh best with fire damage, thus have a slight edge in magica builds over stamina setups, due to fire staff and general elfyness.
DK is a natural class for them in either way, nightblades and sorcerors work decently enough (though not -quite- as good as specialized stamina or magica races such as bosmer/khajiit and breton/altmer), templar is neat enough (if somewhat lore-iffy, seeing how the tribunal dunmer frown on aedric magic, and the ashlander dunmer are more into worshipping the good daedra...) and warden is doable, though casting ice magic generally feels a bit wrong for the dark elves of morrowind...
Dunmer is second to altmer for mag sorc. Very little difference, might even be better for single target if you're going pure inferno staves. Of course only if you're getting enough off balance procs from your group. Either way it's better than Breton. My main is a dunmer magsorc and I have no issues with any content, norm or vet. The added fire resist is nice too if you're gonna be a vampire.
Honestly, stuff gets nerfed and buffed and nerfed again all the time.
My best advice is never rely solely on one character, one build. Have a few characters of different classes so when the nerf hammer hits you will be thinking "ok so I'll just play that other character I have for a while" rather than crying in a corner.

Epona was a Romano-Celtic goddess dating back to around 1800 to 2000 years before computer games were invented.
2019 with the racial passives, Dunmer is really great with every destruction staff/ Magicka builds. Plus you get a lot of Fire resistance and imunity to burning, which have the best sinergy with vampire passives.

Dunmer seems to be a good choice for Nightblades and Templars. Both these classes have good enough sustain that they don’t really need Breton passives. And both Nightblades and Templars have extra crit damage, which diminishes the value of Khajiit passives.
Currently playing my Dunmer as a Stamina DK, and I have to say it's going quite well. I saw people fretting about how Dunmers are now gonna be low tier and only Orcs will be good for physical damage... So far I don't see anything missing in them.
I might even make a Templar in to a Dunmer, will see how that will look.
