Automatons on an end game Stam sorc bis?

Gearing up to be a end game Stam sorc and I tend to use alcasts guides as a basic guideline but i am told running tfs, hunding, and Kragh isn't as good as say automaton, stormfist, hunding but various suggestions from my guild then had theory crafters yelling at each other of what is the true bis but all agreed that tfs isn't viable in a good group. Anyways is automaton good and if so what should I pair it with?

Automaton on body, VO jewelry with daggers, vma bow and a monsterset of your choice, i prefer veli, this will be your BiS IF your group has full support sets for you

    The Flawless Conqueror
    Dro-m'Athra Destroyer

Why do the jewels need to be vo btw?

So basically in a nut shell you run the gear that best compliments you group.

    Automatons/hundings/NMG + VO/WM/TFS + Monster set.

So how you determine this is based on what the tank is running and who your other dps is.

If you have a tank who is running an infused crusher enchant with say alksosh and torugs and a second stam dps who is in NMG then you should run sunderflame + VO/WM/Hundings/Auto. The other option is both stam dps run TFS with something else like hundings. Basically the goal is to get as close to pen cap as possible.

In most situations you are safe to run TFS + whatever you want and it will do more than enough dps in a dungeon. The only time this really really becomes important is in an optimized raid situation. In the case of optimized raids the stam dps have one person run sunder, one run nmg, and the rest are WM/VO + hundings. Sometime a dps can run sunder and nmg together even. Just depends on who you are with.

As a side note this is all assuming you have about 3k in pen CP as well because that is usually the sweet spot that will help push your total pen towards the upper 17-18k pen mark in a group.

Automaton is BiS for stam sorc indeed, since almost all damage you have is physical. Stormfist deals good damage and can proc the shock effect from implosion, so it's a nice alternative for velidreth.

For group content you will want to wear automaton on the body, and switch out the other set depending on your/group needs. For example, you can pair it with NMG, Sunderflame or VO. If the group already has NMG and sunder, then it's best to use VO as your second set. For solo content, use TFS on the body paired with VO.

I use automaton + nmg+ stormfist on my pvp char ( not pve optimised) and hit 35k dps without troubles

I do believe automaton + vo is better in raid though
This is the one build from alcast that i dont really like

    I prefer automaton

Alcast is not the best choice to get full builds from, though they're great to start off with and research. Try Tamriel Foundry instead; more varied guides from different people who specialize in the classes they write about.

So yes, due to the amount of physical damage (or lack of poison damage) coming from stamsorcs, Automaton is the best way to go for maximum pure dps. Pair it with TFS for pug dungeons and solo content, and pair it with VO in optimized trials where you don't have to wear a support set.

I personally don't pair it with support sets; I prefer using VO when using support sets due to the sustain from VO being invaluable in trials (stamsorcs have pretty bad sustain flexibility, and I'm not a Redguard), but you can pair supports sets with Automaton if you want.

Choice of monster set is up to you and whatever boss you're fighting. In general, Velidreth is amazing on chunky bosses, Kra'gh's is great for single-target damage on non-chunky bosses, Stormfist is awesome for the sustain, and Spawn of Mephala is good for AoE damage.

I have heard Valkyn Skoria is not bad on a stam sorc... but not great. Is this an ok monster set to use until you acquire the better ones? It can proc a lot and gives you a different type of dmg.
