Outfit System questions

So I'm a mag sorc with 5 juli/2 ilambris/3 IA and I like my build, right? 5 light, 1 heavy, 1 medium. (the heavy and medium or shoulders and helmet respectively). However I am really excited for the outfit system so I can re pimp my look with some akaviri. Can I make it look like I'm wearing the heavy akaviri armor without changing my light armor to heavy using this outfit system? I don't want to change my armor from light to heavy, just want the look (cosmetic appeal). In addition, does this change the look of monster sets as well? My end result I'm hoping for is to continue wearing the armor I have on in the same classification (light, med, heavy), but make it look like I'm wearing akaviri heavy armor cuz it looks dope.

The actual armor you wear and weapons you equip will be unaffected by the Outfit System. Merely the appearance of those items is what changes. Your gear will still be your gear, ugly or not, but the Outfit System will make it look like whatever you are able, account/server-wide, to collectively craft via known motifs.

The outfit system is an overlay upon your current gear ... so you can do everything you asked about in the OP. Not kidding it’s that dynamic.

    My future outfit:
    Darloc Brae Beast Mask hat
full heavy akaviri armor (gold and red dye)
ebonshadow fire staff and akaviri lighting staff.
    It'll look awesome!

If you mean keep whatever you're wearing while changing everything else, you can. If you mean applying monster sets you are not actually wearing, not currently.

Basically you are making new costumes like the crown crate ones. Except in making the costume you have a tool that allows you to use any piece that you know the motif. Armor weights are all irrelevant when making this just like with crown costumes. In the end what you make just functions as a costume.
