4 hours seems a little on the excessive side for regular maintenance. And today is free crown box day right?

Must be close to a month since the last lot of maintenance. Probably why its taking so long.

Free crown boxes will be awarded on the 18th, so tomorrow. I'm also wondering about the downtime.

Might also be preparation for the next big update. Some internal systems perhaps?

The process of restarting everything (and verifying that it's working) involves a minimum time commitment, regardless of how minor the work to be done is. ESO is a mammoth system of complex parts.

Or to put it another way - SQL hears ya. SQL don't care.

eve restarts their game everyday in 15 minutes flat. And the eve universe is literally infinitely larger. I think zeni needs to upgrade to ssd technology and get with the 20th century.

Aye very true, said that a few times on these forums, but then Eve has been around for millenia and the dev communication to playerbase is top notch and everything that ZoS is not.

    Just to clarify.

That's totally why other MMOs like Runescape need literally 1 hour to patch the server WHILE RUNNING (so the downtime between patches is measured in MINUTES). Definitely not ZOS refusing to hire skilled people. Not understaffed at all.

Yes! Here as well. I always hold my breath as I had a situation a couple years ago where my client got stuck and NOTHING would unstick it. Lead to me quitting the game for a long time (since it wouldn't patch even after a new install, damndest thing).

All d/l'd and ready for server up. Hooorah!

50/mb is the DL speed. Patch size was about a gig.

The Elder Scrolls Online v3.2.12 is a small incremental patch that is required for us to update the in-game Copyright date to 2018, but also includes a fix for the Feeding Pit achievement and God of Schemes quest. This patch is just 119MB.

Guessing ole Molag didn't want to be fixed...

Have you considered going into consulting? Small time operations such as ZOS could clearly benefit from your wealth of experience in diverse production environments.

That’s what happens on PS4 nowadays when it comes to patch updates, and I think overall game downloads. For whatever the reason, the PS4 in a sense makes a copy of the file. Which oddly enough takes longer than the initial download. If you’re curious about it, there’s some deeper explanations behind it all on Reddit. Possibly on other sites as well.
