Disconnecting Error 303 loading from Character Select

PC-NA: I can logon to the Character Select screen every time. The game will then randomly disconnect with Error 303 while loading a character. This is particularly bad at US peak hours. In US-EST mornings I can usually logon all characters with only one disconnection. This is frustrating in the extreme since there isn't any explanation for Error 303 and I can only attribute it to high traffic on ZOS servers. I tried a repair which has had no effect. This has been happening since December 17th but has been really bad ever since the Thursday January 4th Maintenance.

Error 303 could be the result of certain add-ons you have loaded. You can find more information in this thread and instructions on removing add-ons here.

The other thread suggests that MM might be the cause. I doubt that, because it happens on toons with disabled addons. And this clearly started to happen since the last, loading screen update. Anyway, I'm gonna try to reset MM today, and report back with the result.

Actually there are three Addons which affect this in my game. Master Merchant is not one of them possibly, I think, because of on-demand loading.

Tamriel Trade Centre
Harvest Map (mostly the regional additions)
Itemisation Browser (I don't know why, possibly a bug)

On top of that sometimes it's just the number of addons requesting data that can cause the issue like the addition of a mini-map.

I'm now balancing the character needs against the add-on load so my merchant gets TTC and MM plus AGS but a reduced list of others.

It makes me sad

Ok, I can confirm that is because of freaking addons. I've cleaned up my addon data folder, and tuned down MM storage, and dropped some unnecessary crap. Loading in a character is almost instant. Sorry ZOS for whining about that in other threads.

TBH I still think that there is an issue stemming from the latest client update as it's been over 6 months since I last installed an add-on and I didn't have this issue until Xmas. I still get a discon on occassion with low server load and a low add-on count (I had it tonight twice).

i do not use any addons and this issue is present on na pc, relentless boot to login, only game i play has this issue

Well like I said "since Xmas". I think that it is possible that it might also be something that ZOS can't do anything at all about - the internet node network. I mean, perhaps there's a telco secretly running an "information superhighway" experiment that happens to affect the nodes connecting to the ZOS servers. You tend to hear a lot about telcos pushing a "superhighway vs network equality" these days, so it doesn't take much imagination to envisage a telco experimenting with it on the sly. Of course that's just my un-natural cynicism poking its head up....
