Some Concerns About the Outfit Tab

Just popped into the PTS to have a look at this, as it's something I've been wanting since beta. There are a few relatively simple things they could fix that would make it more useful.

First, add a "hide shoulders" option. I would prefer most of the light armor styles without the awkward looking oversized epaulettes. "Hide stupid-looking hip flaps" would also be nice, but would require some pretty major artwork revision so I won't push that any further.

The other thing is, apparently you can only select the styles that each character has learned individually? This severely limits customization for my seven alts who have not learned the motifs I've given to my main/crafter. Why not make this account-wide instead of tied to the individual character? Or better, do something like they do in LoTRO and Rift, both of which have very good cosmetic tab features, and let you drop items from your inventory into the cosmetic slots? Then your crafter could make a generic grey version of whatever style you wanted to wear and all you would have to do is transfer it into your alt's inventory.

As well, I actually prefer some of the tier one and two versions of the standard racial styles to the more ornate later tier styles. For example, the tier one Imperial light armor looks, to me, better than its tier 5 version. The above suggestion would also solve that problem.

If Zeni would implement those two things, I can see myself using the outfit tabs quite a bit. But as it sits on the PTS, I'll stick with my costumes.

Wrong. If one character has learned a certain style, all of your other characters can make outfits in that style.

For the motif problem, log into your main crafter

Well, I logged in first with a Breton alt who had learned no styles. All that was available to me were the Breton 1.

I logged in with my main/crafter, and had all styles available.
    So...

    What am I missing?

I have not tested this myself but in ESO live they did state that you will be able to use the lower tier styles of the motifs you have learned. I believe they said that in order to unlock the lower tiers you would need to decon those items and they'd then be added to your library.

    1. Hip flaps are not coded separately. As such it's not a simple change to add a hide flaps.
Basically, not likely to happen anytime soon.

    2. According to the patch notes, if I read them correctly, if one character knows the style all characters can convert the appearance to that style. If it's not working as the patch notes suggest it needs to be reported in the pts section as a bug.

OK...so I went back in. What it is, apparently you have to log in with your crafting main first, to populate the outfitter with your known styles.

This is a little awkward, but problem solved.

The part where you then log back into your breton.

I'd still like the "hide shoulders" option. Only that, I guess.

See, you need to log into your main crafter so the game can log what you have, after THAT the styles will be unlocked.

For me, for the styles to show up in the outfit station, I have to rezone my char. For some reason, 1st login does NOT trigger update on the known styles, but rezone does.

Stats wise, you can wear shoulders on real armor, but on your outfit do not select any, thus they are hidden.

That would make sense, that one would need to log into the crafter once for the system to be populated with the new information.

Well, that doesn't work. The equipped stat armor shows through.

Reading the patch notes? Crazy talk. What's next, stopping and asking for directions?
