Weapon Outfits and Costumes work together. Very happy camper!

I love some of my costumes and what I want is to simply create an "outfit" that changes my weapons to match my desired costume. For example, I want an outfit that changes my Maelstrom Bow to match my Elven Hero costume. My fear is that since changing the appearance of weapons is part of creating a new outfit, that when I wear a costume it will revert my weapons back to the vanilla models.

I've been trying to keep up with all the news but has this been addressed on any of the official channels?

In short, can I make an outfit that is JUST weapons and still wear this outfit with my favorite costumes?

No, they stated that costumes overwrites created outfits.

I wouldn't necessarily say no to this, we will have to wait for the PTS to see. No available costumes touch the weapon slots, it's only for body slots, so theoreticall you could do a weapon outfit, and then use a costume which doesn't touch the weapons.

It would make much more sense this way also. Otherwise, whenever you use a costume, you would be stuck with your default weapon look. I don't really see that happening.

But most/all (?) costumes do not include weapons, so I would find it logical if the underlying outfit weapon slot choice shows, as the outfits overlay the actual worn gear. So the question would be can you only pick costume or outfit (in which case origional weapons show with the costume). Or are all layers active (showing outfit weapon look with costume, and outfit might be utterly filled, even then only weapons show as the rest gets overlayed by the costume)

I mean I hope it doesn’t work like that, but that was he only thing mentioned about it last night.

That better be how it works. Otherwise, that’s a huge design flaw. They’d have been better off just doing normal transmog if you can’t even use costumes with changed weapons.

Just from what they said, it looks like not, at least for armor pieces. A costume will overwrite outfit slots.

BUT, being a weapon, it might be a different case. Maybe the weapon outfit slot will be available even if you are using a costume.

We will just have to wait and see Monday, but that is actually a very good question.

For anyone still curious I tried out the new system on the PTS. I was able to create an "outfit" that was simply a dyed VMA bow converted into the Apostle style. Best of all, when I tried on my favorite costume - the changed/dyed weapon appearance didn't go away! So it looks like weapon outfits will work quite nicely with costumes, and I'm very glad they do.

Ummm why don't you simply unequip them then if you don't want those visible? I don't get it.

Why do I forced to stop using key feature of guild system for possibility to use key feature of transmogrification system? I dont get it either.

But if you're not showing your guild tabards then what's the point? Tabards should show your affiliation with a guild to other players so if you hide it what's the point? It's like you didn't even equip it FFS.

I want to display my guild's name in my nameplate, without displaying the actual tabard which, I feel, is ugly.

Wearing the tabard with a costume over it lets me accomplish this at present, and it would be a nice option if the outfit system could be adapted to do it, too.

Along with guild system we got nameplate option just to show those things in those nameplates for recognition. Noone actually will run 1m toward you and watch what kind of symbol, color and crest on your tabard for checking from which guild you are. Eespecially in pvp.

Yep, I was really looking forward to this, but if I can't hide my tabard, I'll just continue using a costume.
