A possible problem with interrupts in update 17

I think there could possibly problem here and i would like some input...
  • When an ability is interrupted, it is now put on a 3-second cooldown where it cannot be used.
  • When a cast time or channeled ability is interrupted, you will be staggered, stunned, and set Off Balance. After the stun ends, you gain crowd control immunity.
  • Crowd control immunity now grants immunity to all interrupt effects. After a cast time or channeled ability is interrupted, you will be immune to any future interrupts until crowd control immunity wears off.

Okay so right now interrupts arent the greatest.. Mainly dark deals, revives, and pet sorcs summoning.. A good example of this type of spamming is; When interrupting a tank/tanky healer trying to revive a fallen ally, the person can literally spam revive until the ally is up. This will either end with you blowing all of your stam for no reason or getting killed by the other people around (if there are some, if the person reviving is alone then ya you can kill them)...

Now when you're fighting a pet sorc and they have 2-3 pets up, plus a monster helm pet, plus mines, plus a CC/knock back, its gets tricky.. The main way to beat them (usually) is to kill the pets and stop them from summoning by interrupting them (although this doesn't always work, same with dark deal)..

So basically what im trying to say here, from the way i understand it is, they would be better off not touching interrupts.. I think adding a blackout on the skill for 3 seconds after interrupt is GREAT, but whats to stop a pet build from waiting the 3 seconds and casting the pet within the 3 seconds they have of cc immunity?? Seems like a free pass to cast an ability after every interrupt.. Usually pet sorcs have huge shields due to necro, so cc break (or dont) and as soon as the skill becomes cast-able, throw up a hardened ward and cast it without being interrupted.. If this is what i understand it to be then its a major buff to pet sorcs, and a nerf to counter play when it comes to fighting them... Same goes for stam sorcs, however its not as bad imo.. Idk though, even if i am right this may be better than the current system, please leave some thoughts..

And of course there will still be some counter play.. That will consist of killing the pets, interrupting the summon, and applying as much pressure as possible so they cannot possibly channel the summon the pet in that 3 second window.. However i dont think that will always be possible, but i guess that can be said about the current interrupt system... So maybe this change will be better than the old system, hard to say.. Just looking for community input here.

Is the crowd control immunity for that particular skill or for all skills. I can see someone throwing out some woopty doo cast time skill to have it interrupted and come back with a soul assault.

I suppose we'll have to see how it plays out but I'm not sure I like the sound of it. CC immunity from breakfree/letting cc lapse(lol) lasts 7 seconds. CC immunity from potions lasts...what was it again, ~10 seconds? With this cc immunity now protecting people from being interrupted...so a templar can just pop immovable or simply break some random cc and happily spam jesus beam on me for next 7-10 seconds, with me having 0 counterplay available? It cannot be dodged and it won't even be bashable....likewise, a pet sorc will have all the time they need to resummon all their pets, basically whenever they want it, a stamsorc will have 100% failproof darkdeal spam etc. That doesn't sound like much counterplay to me.

Of I understand correctly, as long as Im CC immune nobody can bash my dark deal anymore, right?

yeh i dont think this was very well thought through. If it was intended to be like this then it's just very poor design by the combat team.

I'm more intrigued by the prospect that every time I get stunned by anything, I just break free and then spam dark deal for 6 seconds straight without fear of getting interrupted. Literally the only time I will use that skill now.

Oh god i didnt even think of immovables and immovable.. I was thinking of the specific cc immunity after the interrupt... I hope they were smart enough to have cc immunity understand the difference between regular cc immunity and being immune to interrupts after an interrupt..

Oh boy. I think i gave them too much credit.. SO run immovables/immovable and dark deal/pet summon whenever?? No ty.

And i main stam sorc and have for over a year.. I love the class but dark deals are annoying when you cant interrupt them.

ya but the skill blacks out for 3 seconds, but then you have a free 3-4 seconds to dark deal..

No, that's only if the skill was interrupted. They said that CC immunity grants immunity to interruption now. You get CC immunity from getting stunned by just about any form of crowd control.

Break free -> chain cast whatever you want for 6 seconds

nope nothing wrong here. tbh I think this is what this game actually needs for more strategic play...cooldowns.

Counterplay is very unfair. Imagine you bought the new DLC, grinded all the new best proc sets, went to Cyrodiil, started with your skill rotation and then - BAM - counterplayed.
Now you will have guarantee that if you have good gear, some luck with RNG and start first, you will win burst race and emerge as a victor.

Another indirect buff to skills which we hate.

Another new mechanic no one wanted, which will bring more calculation what means more lag.

What bothers me the most is the fact that working on it, actually took certain amount of time. The time they should use to eliminate ongoing problems and bugs. So bugs, ha? New mechanic means new bugs and new expolits. Never ending story.
