The idea behind gap closers and a possible change.

I was wondering if its possible to change gap closers from skills to function with block+sprint like in skyrim? I believe its possible and would free up a skill slot for 2 hand and shield users and allow an additional skill to be added. I also believe that staffs can have a move that pushes them back from their opponent leaving a trail of elemental aoe (ive seen a certain boss enemy use this but i forget which dungeon) as staves are primarily ranged weapons this would be a neat way to avoid your enemy.
To account for cost i think the skill should not have a set cost instead cost a percent much like dodge rolling does.

    I dont see the point in changing a system that works pretty well as it is.

    @Voxicity the current system does work but i feel like a change like this adds skill requirment over spammability. @Chelo and as i said there would be a cost similar to dodge roll. Of course this could also give dual wield a closer as well without sacrificing a skill ( though honestly they could do away with flying dagger and i dont think anyone would care)

    Gap closers will still be incredibly strong and worthwhile after the damage reduction. Most are loaded with ancillary effects and/or CC's. I don't think melee combat will feel any less powerful than it does currently.

    13% reduction in damage to base skill which carries over to both morphs. :neutral:

    We’ve decreased the damage values on numerous gap closer abilities – not just Teleport Strike, but other charge abilities such as Critical Charge or Focused Charge as well. Gap closers in ESO have no cooldown and can hit for extreme amounts of damage, so there is very little opportunity cost in forcing your enemies to use them. Decreasing their damage ensures that ranged players utilizing movement and terrain to maintain their distance are better rewarded for that advantage.

    @The_Protagonist ahhh i see ya i just started the patch notes......well im actually liking this change. as well as the change to interrupts although considering most abilities that should be interrupted cannot be so its still MEH.
