yah, I don't think anyone should be attackable while they're stuck in an interaction animation...that just seems...bogus

maybe...MAYBE...looting chests should be interruptable - say, an attack that knocks the player out of the chest opening interaction, gives them maybe a 2s immunity buff so that they have time to...adjust...and then battle - at least give them an opportunity to fight at all

and skyshards...absolutely no reason why it should be NECESSARY to steal away someone's skyshard collection WHILE they're trapped in the animation of acquiring it - if you start the animation, you should be allowed to finish it, give a 1 or 2 second immunity, THEN kill them...

being able to kill people WHILE in an animation that they have no control over (and in the case of skyshards, might actually be incapable of interrupting on their own) is a totally unnecessary access to griefing

I don't mind if you manage to kill someone WHILE they're on their way to a skyshard (still seems like an unnecessary way to jerk people around, but at least it's semi-legitimate in the course of general pvp), or once they've finished their animation to collect it

but *demanding* that everyone be subject to assassination while trapped in what is essentially a cinematic sequence just so you can be a jerk to someone else seems like a totally unnecessary mechanic
Or people could just not be jerks, but their real life probably stinks so they take it out on temporarily helpless people. Also Pvp area so we know what we signed up for going in.

This seems like a good opportunity to call for a pve-only Cyrodiil.

From one whose highest char pvp lvl is 10, NO Thank You. Pvpers in IC are part of my content. I thank you for not trying to take it from me and anyone else who feels the same.

If you can't run the hell away from the big dogs and drop kick the little ones, stay under the porch. (Rest of tamriel)

Still, it is crass to try and instagib people stuck in a shard or chest animation. Like come on. You can do better than that.

Um, yeah, there's a reason global open world PvP is not and will never be a thing in ESO and this is it.

No. They're in a war zone and you need to expect conflict from other alliances. Some players will pass you by quietly, others will hunt you down like in the rest of Cyrodiil. Its all down to how everyone is feeling I suppose. I don't attack others in delves, but yeah; its a war zone. Always expect to be attacked. That way you keep your guard up. But whatever.

If anything, the spawn time for the bosses within those delves in Cyrodiil needs to be changed. Once waited an hour for a boss to spawn. Ridiculous.

One isn't being a jerk if they attack someone while picking up a shard in Cyrodiil. The risk is part of the fun. To people who enjoy PVP, at least -- and that is who the content in Cyrodiil was designed for.

When I did my first shard collecting in 2014, the population cap was much higher so it was rare not to encounter opponents at shard locations. The relative difficulty of the monsters was much higher, so being attacked by other players while fighting monsters could be an issue. The solution was to be careful and search for opponents before allowing myself to be vulnerable. My heart pounded each time I collected a shard and I had to fend off countless ganks. It was awesome. Some of my best PVP memories are from when I was collecting shards as a PVP noob.

While grinding CP in 2015, the same was true. Cyrodiil delves provided some of the best xp/hr and the constant risk of being ganked made it much more entertaining than grinding in a PVE zone.

All of this applies to IC as well.

Another option is to collect shards with friends or even pay an experienced PVP player to protect you. This kind of interdependence is what made early MMOs amazing.

So, that guy was raving about mudballs ruining his RP, but an exact copy of cyrodiil (a war zone) without the actual war is all fine and dandy.

What is wrong with you people ?

Cyrodiil is a PvP zone, do you want the goodies ? Do PvP, or take the loss when you get killed. Your armor doesn't break down, you don't lose money or items, there is literally no penalty to getting killed. You respawn, you try again. You have to walk a long way ? Cry me a river, everyone had to.

Instead we have bottom-feeders who like to gank some poor guy while he's fighting off a mob... from behind. True Heroes.

instead of the crying sissies who goto a pvp zone, get killed by a player and then whine about it?

This is the one time I'm happy to say, PvP is a cancer.

And for those that think, it comes with the territory.. git gud.

no, the cancer is people who got killed getting all cut up about it and whinging how it needs to be changed because they want to go to a pvp zone without doing pvp.
Yes, but so does common decency and respect. There's absolutely no reason to bust down on a guy just trying to solo a bit of IC - how many times I've been ganked by someone 600+ CP higher than me, and for what good reason.

common decency and respect? Maybe the person dying should have enough respect of the zone to say hey, im in danger, took my eye off the ball to get a prize and paid the price for my inattention. This isnt the 1500s where its all about honour and poeple disrespecting you and getting challenged to walk 10 paces. You already agreed to the terms when you entered cyrodil.
I dont care if you wanna whine about this crap while i backstab you at the skyshard. If you didnt know what you were getting into when you entered cyrodil, i consider it my civic duty to remind you.

You dont hear me whining about the 3 DC jumping me while getting the skyshard in cyrodil. You might here them whining that my undergeared pve magplar healer beat them though. but thats cyrodil

if only it was 30min. my nightblade waited i think about 8hrs for one. not in one session but each session was around 2-3hr wait time while other bosses respawned like 5 times.

I am an avid PvP player. Been so since beta. I enjoy the challenge of player against player game play in Cyrodill whether at the Keeps, in open fields or in the Delves and Towns and Imperial City.

However, I totally understand that some players do not like PvP game play. Therefore I see no reason why there could not be a Cyrodill PvE Environment players could elect for the purpose of doing the delves and quest content without worrying about other players killing them. Same holds true for Imperial City.

I know many will disagree but playing in PvE is a far cry from PvP It's a whole different game play. It's one thing to go up against a computer generated Opponent and another to come up against another human player.

Wish IC had a PvE clone. Hate going there. Pity as it could really have a fantastic storyline behind it.

I would just give the guy a break, and let him continue. But hey, ... that's just me. I grew up differently.

Imperial City does have a fantastic storyline.

I completed it on a practically empty campaign with a partner for the Temple and Arena Districts (yeah, I couldn't quite solo the Arena final boss round) and didn't die once to enemy players because I never saw any. Playing in the middle of the day helped.

(The good reason that people gank you in Imperial City is because then they collect half of the Tel Var stones you've got. This zone was made for ganking.)

I was Skyshard hunting in a delve over by EP. Saw some EP that I had ignored the first time but I brought the delve boss over so they could get a few hits in. After the boss was dead they continued to attack me, stupid because I was on a tank, end up killing them.
It isn't the delve location that the OP is [snip] about, its people. I brought the boss over to be nice, I had no intension of starting a fight, I was a tank, normally I can't kill someone solo. They need to be extnmly good to kill me or extremely bad to be killed by me.

I've wrote about this before, but I loved the way Star Wars Galaxies did PvP. You where either active duty, on-leave, or not in the military. If you were active duty every where was PvP, not just Cryodiil, but Craglorn, Bleakers Rock, craft stations. If you were on-leave you weren't in PvP unless you went a Zone that auto set you to active, aka Cryodiil. If you weren't in the military then there was no place you could go and have to worry about being attached, but you could still PVP by taking bounties which players had the option of paying to place on someone each time they were killed. If you had a bounty on you, you could be attached any time, any where (except raids) by a player who had taken the bounty. Perfect counter play to annoying players (like gankers)

Long time ago I used to ignore enemy players and only attack back if being attacked first, but last time I did that, the AD player that I was trading emotes with inside the delve just jumped on me as soon as other two AD's showed up. Since that day I learned the lesson that you can't read people's minds so I don't ignore them anymore and go for the kill before they try to kill me, the only exception being while they are stuck in the skyshard animation. So expect PVP in a PVP zone lol

Been attacked by mobs many times when collecting skyshards, in delves, public dungs and open field...

Have another solution: let option of auto decline duels works in pvp :D
Anyone going to collect skyshard or take quest will stay untouched even walking across enemy zerg, until will mess to battle by using any skill (damaging, healing, shielding) or other form of atack (light, heavy), this must set autodecline option automatically off.
And -with this option on- pass closed gate of enemy base located skyshard to collect it. I think gate guards should tax this player for -let's say- 5k gold. Everyone will be happy ^^

This is a troll suggestion, yes?

Ball group forms then walks right into zerg without taking any damage until they decide to unleash their ultimates. Die, rinse, and repeat. Great AP till every PvPer quits over it leaving the zone a PvE zone.

It's not a terrible idea to let the skyshard animation proc a 100% reduction in incoming damage for its duration.

You can only collect once and you can only collect out of combat, so there's really no practical way to exploit it.

    Best suggestion
In Dark Souls 3 people used to cheese the wax pools in the grand archives for the invincibility from the head-dunking animation
not really viable with Skyshards tho,
so long as it does a reduction in damage and cannot be interrupted

as an aside, this would also help with annoying respawns in pure PvE dungeons where an archer or something will attack while collecting that shard

Also, that feeling of creeping danger anytime you step foot in Cyrodiil is one of the highlights of the game. It would be a mistake to make any part of Cyrodiil PVE, just as it would be foolish to make the other zones PVP.

With the exception of crafting tables, which are a no pvp zone. Something unsettling about someone who would gank a guy while he's crafting. Kinda like drinking a guy's beer when he goes to the washroom to spill.

I like that you have to play carefully when exploring solo in enemy territory in Cyrodill. It's nothing to avoid the PVE AI mobs, but to delve right under the noses of other potentially hostile players is quite another thing..

I'd luv for there to be some tool for a small man group, or solo player to use (like a mini camp, with more range) to return revive when far behind enemy lines (not useable in large groups or in the vicinity of a siege).

Being both a PVPer and PVEer, I can understand OP's request and the reason people disagree with it. The suggestions some people make are just ridiculous. Go during non-peak hours? That wont work with some peoples work schedule. It just wont. The best advice I can give for now is to ask for a group to go with you. Ask your guild mates who want to do the same thing. Make it a guild event. Do EP one week, DC the next and AD last, or whatever order you want. It's PVP so you will be killed any chance someone can get. Also, no alliance wants a population bar filled with farmers and such. I even think people in Imperial City shouldn't even be included with the population above in Cyrodiil. If a guild is having a farming event for Molag Bal or Tel Var, players who want to fight in Cyrodiil are left in a queue. But there's opposition for that idea and problems too so I just deal with it as is.
