Macros in Elder scrolls online?

Note: this is completely my opinion and pls don't get offended.
ESO does not need macros like wow because of the simplicity of its skills, quick combat and no long cooldowns, in wow in every class you have around 40skills on screen half of them used in combat, you have skills with varied cooldowns, skills that you can benefit from them only every 10min, skills with no global cooldown (which are usually only buff and mitigation skills), interrupt skill ...etc, this is alot of button mashing, to narrow this you can for example set a macro to hit all skills with no global cooldowns at once which is a needed QOL, keep in mind such macro only work on skills with no global cooldown, on other skills you will have to use a sequence macro which is imo give more disadvantage than advantage.

Here is a simple view of macros in wow:

As for what you want try this:

    Hope it helps.

I wonder what they think about the addon that lets you craft quantities of items with 1 button push.
Addon are legal, as they use the approved api.
Nobody would detect if you used macros for LA weaving, however after morrowind you also need heavy attacks in your rotation, you can script more complex stuff but again it make you non flexible, it work on dummy but not if you need to dodge or block.

Don’t let the people crying about Miats hear you say that. They will picket on your front lawn.
Miat is because dev incompetence, API should not warn about stealth attacks, the API is for boss fighting mods.
    No npc attack from stealth.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I cannot tell for WoW but in FF 14 you have like 200+ skills or commands you can add to your skill bars. The built-in macro editor helps with that and shows that macros and consoles can co-exist. FF 14 is a PC and console game after all. But macros cannot improve the cast times because you have to add a safety margin for lag or the skills just won't activate. Actually skill macros can slow you down so it's part of a decision-making where they make sense and where not.

In ESO however, you have 5 skills per bar plus ultimate, in total up to 12 skills to choose from, usually even less if you slot toggles. There is little pressure to combine those to macros. The whole combat is quite minimalistic in comparison already. And it would certainly not speed things up in laggy situations where your muscles can adjust to the lag while the macros cannot.

What I personally would appreciate tho would be more of a highlight editor, something you had on your mind, too. If you could pre-configure text messages or alerts and fire them up with a key combination, that could be a very helpful tool for trials or random/PUGs in particular. It could help to teach and learn mechanics, too, and create some independence from voice chat needs if you could macro a highlight with sound effect for 'color change', 'switch' and 'reform' in vmol/twins, for example. Or a 'I'm pinned' in Sanctum Ophidia (it would be awesome if such a highlight would automatically mark yourself with an arrow above your head for a few seconds to show the other players your location).

So it would be nice to have such a highlight editor added to the game. Each highlight could include a text message you prepared, a color you can choose from and an optional sound effect added to rise attention for critical situations. A preference tab to change the highlights for different situations would be nice, too.

Implementation to the game could be easy, even on console: Cursor-down on the d-pad actually switches between ego and 3rd party view. Hold cursor-down is not used by the game at the moment. Hold-down on the d-pad could bring up an on-screen menu to choose between text macros, like we have it with the emotes or quick items already. On PC, such a text macro selection menu could be associated to any key on the keyboard.

And since such highlights can be irritating if over-used, there could be a setting added to the game to allow you not to see other player's macros if you don't want to. They should be restricted to be used in instances, too. In open worlds such a system could quickly be abused.

So in short while I'm not sure if a proper macro editor would be beneficial to ESO, I think a text macro system would help and make content more accessible to a broader player base. Which would be something very beneficial for the game as a whole.

Of course we know that certain unscrupulous players will use CE for whatever reason in ESO. I wouldn’t be surprised if some players have used macros. Such is the reality with modern online games.

I really don't understand players like that. Why would I want to automate my actions in game, when that's what is fun about the game. I bought the game to play it, not to watch it play itself.
When I want to see something play with itself I use different part of internet :D

You really want to manually do 14 characters of all 5-6 writs per day ?

It's not compulsory to do them all, every day.
