New class suggestion: Arena Fighter

Not very clever so this has probably already been suggested, but how about a class centered around arenas? Instead of one hand and shield have one hand and net? And introduce the trident as a weapon. Fits the lore and would allow for plenty of crown store items.

Just a suggestion. Maybe I have watched Spartacus one too many times.

...you are mostly talking about weapon skill lines here...
But yes, you -definitely- watched spartacus too much! ;-)

At best, this is a one single skill line for "gladiator tricks"... either as guild skill line, or maybe as some prestige class like I dreamed up for my class morph idea DK options: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/369966/class-morph-idea-mk-ii
(Didn't think about a net though, since we already have some movement-impairing stuff there with the "talons"... it would make sense that in a magical world, some things might be easier done with a spell then carrying an unwieldy net, perhaps?)

And definitely several new weapon skill lines, like "polearms" for wielding tridents, or some "one-handed and ranged" line: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/371862/additional-weapon-skill-ideas-mk-ii

Yes... you indeed have watched Spartacus too much. Its also why some opinions can be bad ones and why not everyone should be in a position of creative development.

As gar as lore goes, various types of "warriors" have partaken in gladiatoral bouts. They can hardly be considered a class unto themselves, as all sorts of mages and melee fighters have been gladiators.

As far as a trident goes, this is simply reduntant if and when they decide to add polearm. And with how eso operates, this is strictly a weapon skill line of which a holy light wielding warrior, a dragon imbued fiery warrior, a dark illusionist life stealing warrior, a deadric harnessing lightning infused warrior, and a warrior who is one with nature and commands the frozen element can ALL make use of.

    Sorry.

Love critics. Risk nothing while trying to take away everything.

One question I ask critics are what are your ideas? More often than not they do not have any as the only skill they have honed is how to be critical of others.

And yes opinions can be bad. I find your opinions horrible. And because it is an opinion I can be just as right as you. See how that works?

The point is a new class suggestion and new new weapon tree. One that actually fits into the lore. Yes there are different types of warriors that have participated in arenas. And with three class branches you could have three close combat warriors; say an offensive, defensive and crowd control. Close combat as they would be used to tactics used in enclosed areas.

Anyway, going back to think of more ideas while you go read about others ideas.

Except there isn't much to your idea other than a name for a class and a name of a weapon.

If you wan't to be taken seriously you should pitch some concepts; ones that both take lore and game mechanic into consideration.

Otherwise I can come up with ideas just like you:
How about a mermaid class that is centered around water combat?
How about a weapon skill line with crossbows?
How about we make shouts into a new skill line?
How about a Gladiator class that would only wear pauldrons on one shoulder and queue John Cena entry music ingame every time he got a kill?

Except I realize how poorly thought up they are and don't waste time posting on forums, unless I actually go ahead and go through with the concepts and come up with well-rounded and fleshed out concepts that could be implemented in the game.

Your suggestions lack detail, foresight and most of all thought.

Instead of throwing aside criticism you should embrace it, even if you don't agree.

From a design perspective if people criticize your idea or project there is something wrong with it; either it's the product itself that missed the mark or you didn't manage to portray it correctly which results in people misunderstanding the product itself and thus criticize it.

In this instance your idea are design products and you're being told they are too superficial.

There is nothing constructive or productive about just throwing random ideas on the forums that you gave five minutes of thought, or in life for that matter - unless you're actively being part of a brain storm process which framework has been explicitely stated.

With Classes, I do believe that they will centre around what already existed as a class in previous games. I am not saying that they would not do a arena fighter, just that I think others they have planned are/might be already developed/developing.

One ESO live many moons ago, I think it was a warden preview skill line episode, they said that they did have a dark sorcerer/mage in the line up....my guesses would be necromancer. As it is highly desired by some members of the community and the hype of shows like game of thrones, highlighting mythical undead etc would/might draw people into the game.

So I think, Necromancers would be next (not this year but next), and there was some data-mining about Battle mages. They were a class seen in a few previous Elder scrolls games. Seen here: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Classes

After that (not in any order) Mistrals (bards), could have some shouts like a banshee using their voice. Along with some nifty support/debuff abilities and class lines. A Berserker class could fit into what you describe quite well, I know a few NPC's have this title, would be cool if one of there skill lines was a gladiator line. I would be down for that. -insert a little bosmer berserker- kill them with cuteness!

    :)
