The Outfit System (Transmog) - Will we FINALLY be able to get rid of those god awful red weapons?

Weapons are included in the Outfit System, so you'll be able to not only change how your weapon looks, but also... dye it! Cool, right? :)

That is indeed very cooool. So my blue-golden sorcerer can now get the right weapon too <3

    Hm.

Have they confirmed that we'll be able to control what material level the outfit pieces will use? (For instance, I like the low-level look of Altmer gear, and would like to use those in a costume instead of the higher-level versions.)

What if I want to pair my de-red-ified weapons with a costume from the crown store? Will that be possible with outfits? (So, say, I dye a weapon gray and use it with the Regalia of the Scarlet Judge.)

Can I dye each individual piece of the outfit separately, or does it become "unified" like the other costumes in the game? Not all gear pieces seem to use the same color channels, or I may want to wear hot pink pants with a monochromatic jerkin.

Not really expecting an answer to these here... but will be testing this system thoroughly when it's out on PTS.

I'm probably just dense, but I don't understand a lot of the restrictions on this kind of stuff. My PvP character has earned over 400 transmutation crystals (combination of opened and un-cracked geodes) and I can't use them on my fully leveled crafter.

What is up with that? I have a dedicated character that makes all my weapons, armor etc. Spent over a year leveling up and almost have full 9 traits on everything. But those 50-crystal end-of-campaign rewards on my PvP character just sit there and I can't use them? I'm finding a lot of what at first seems like good news and nice changes to the game simply don't apply to me.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno

Argeed. This is extremely disappointing. They shafted crafters with the transmute system and I was hoping that at least this new outfit system would be a great addition to the crafting economy. Not only will crafters not be able to benefit from this extremely *obvious* potential boost to their overall usefulness, but the hundreds of thousands of other players who don't craft will simply not be able to partake in this system.

Honestly, I think ZOS should reconsider this system and allow for crafters to participate and create items that can be traded to any players that will let them use this outfit system.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom any chance you could pass these thoughts along?

Are the "unique outfits" a separate feature from being able to change the styles of a couple of pieces of armor?
for example: I don't really want to make an outfit out of armor, but I do want to change my Plague Doctor set to aldmeri style and still cover the armor with a costume

Not being short with you, but why would you do that? I don't understand.

So I can take the costume off and wear the armor when I want to wear the armor. I didn't mean to say that I want to change my armor style and cover it with a costume forever. I want to know if the only way to use the transmog system is through making a unique outfit instead of simply being able to change armor pieces' styles.

Got it, that makes way more sense. I was thinking, make this beautiful outfit, change Plague Doctor to High Elf (or whaterver) then cover with costume. My brain hurt trying to wrap my head around that one. I see your point, is it one and and done or can we put it on and take it off or is it lost when we "remove" it? I suspect I know the answer, which ever drive people to the Crown $tore.

that's nice and all, but how do i change the look on alts that are NOT my master crafters?

I never even thought of that....My alts Don't really know any motifs, and the ones I would want to use like mazzatun are way too difficult/expensive to get a second time.

You know you can buy the motifs at the Crown $tore. Why did I get so excited about this? I knew they would just bury it in the money shop, ZO$ is no different than EA or Bungie or anyone else. Money Money Money...

I really don't understand why everyone is so happy.

I am exceedingly disappointed, and almost insulted, to see this tied into your cash shop. I'm not surprised, I was expecting a move like this, but still held out that you would do the right thing.

Forgive me if these have been answered elsewhere:

    1) What is an "Outfit Change Token" and how much money are you charging for these things? I am assuming that every time I want to make, or change, an outfit I'm going to need one of these things?

    2) How many outfit slots will be available to buy total and how much money are you charging for each of them?

I'm a bit confused. So, it sounds to me that we are not actually changing the appearance of an item, but basically making a costume/outfit to cover it? If this is correct, I've gotta say seriously, who comes up with these ideas? Why can't we just change the item appearance and be done with it?

Giving away free cosmetic options is the right thing to do? ZOS did the right thing when they made transmutation accessible solely through gameplay (even if it is a huge slog if you don't have the Clockwork City DLC). The vast majority of cosmetic options we have are through the crown store, so why should this be any different?

    That said...

Yes, I'd also like to know this. While I think it's reasonable for ZOS to charge for this, how often and how much we will have to pay will determine whether or not I actually partake in this system... and how many slots I can have.

(About 30 of my main character's inventory slots are taken up by different changes of clothes. So if I can't get at least 30 outfit slots, and get them at a relatively reasonable price, then there's no reason for me to switch over to outfits for her.)

I know right? in every game that I have played personaly, that has a transmog system - you change individual items. the one game where you create outfit stamps that I have played personaly - swtor, you do create outfits, but you can use any gear you want, you get one outfit slot PER character, and you can modify said outfit as much as you'd like without buying cash shop tokens. when a game with one of the worst monetanization systems on the market.. is STILL less restrictive? I don't even know what to day anymore

Yes, you can. The Crystals are a Currency that is available to any character on your account. Your PvP character earns them, your crafter uses them. Just use the bank to give items you get on your PvP character to your Crafter to change then send them back.

As you probably know, changing a trait binds the item to your account, but not your character.

And, just to add, the Crystals are automatically added to the pool, so you don't have to deposit them first.

This is great news, but . . . there is one thing I need clarification on before I become even remotely excited about it.

Will the styles, appearances and motifs be account wide like dyes? Or, whatever one character has unlocked only that character can use? If this is the case, I hate the system already. Because I dumped all of my rare and crown store styles on one toon that has the best crafting skills, but then none of my other toons that I prefer playing will be able to use those styles?

Please @ZOS_GinaBruno can you clear this up?

Yeah... It would have been the right thing to do in my opinion. I feel I have been nickle and dimed enough. Just because it's cosmetic doesn't mean it has to be tied to the cash shop. That's why it should be different.

I put a lot of time, gold, and effort, in obtaining almost all of the motif styles in the hopes of being able to use them in a system like this one day. Now this day is here, and I learn I have to spend cash in order to be able to put these motifs to use every time. There's another reason for you why it should be different.

And my post clearly states that I was not surprised by this, so I don't need you trying to point this out to me. Nor do I have any interest in arguing with you, or anyone, about this.
