Do you still need to change character monthly?

Hi, I left this game just as the assassins guild was released because I got sick of the balancing alterations that were always so heavy that they made a good set up worthless to the point where to achieve anything you pretty much had to build a new chatacter/class. Is this still the case?

The result of these were for me at least never being able to get attached to a character and instead just seeing them as farming machines. I enjoyed the game just hated characters and gear regularly being made worthless due to balancing being far too heavy handed rather than tweaking.

It's been a few updates since I've seen total gutting of a class. I've seen a few heavy handed tweaks to builds that deserved it.

Oh and night blade is in the sh****r. Has been for awhile. So while they toned it down on the frequency of gutting classes, IMHO it hasn't stopped completely.

Oh and templars execute has been broken for a few patches.

I guess it depends entirely on your approach. Personally, I've never altered a single character since PC launch and all my characters continue to perform satisfactorily, but my playstyle is based on non-competitive PvE only. It's mainly min-maxers who will always struggle to keep their characters in "peak condition" because MMOs will always evolve, and for most players that's a good thing as it keeps a game fresh as well as striving to achieve a degree of ongoing balance which is something for which there can never be a single "one size fits all" solution.

Unfortunately, developers can never do right for doing wrong. If they apply a significant change to resolve things speedily they get accused of being too heavy handed, while if they take their time to introduce a significant change in small increments they get accused of failing to show any resolve or conviction  !
