Lineage 2 was my first MMO so castle sieges where good strategy can overcome player count, and where Zerg machines are a tool of warfare just feels important to me. I hated switching to WoW and seeing players like special snowflakes demanding battles be perfectly evenly matched in player count and level as though that's how warfare works. Very happy to get back to an MMO where warfare feels more genuine, but I still feel bitter about forced alliance allegiances being a product of WoW. In Lineage 2 alliances formed and broke up all the time, all based on player politics.
Battlegrounds is just a much worse version of Cyrodiil, but at least in Cyrodiil it takes a lot longer for you to be rekt by Tryhards. In Battlegrounds you get rekt every ten seconds.
I used to play alot BGs during the morrowind patch but then I got enough from running after relic instead of killing people, and the fact that they weren't that fun to play with randoms. Tbh i'm not regreting that decision. Cyrodiil is generally more fun even tho the performance isn't that good and zergs are strong in that one.
I tried battlegrounds and didn't care for it. Cyrodil PVP is far superior. But people complained that ESO needed battlegrounds, so we got them. In my opinion, ZOS would have been better off if they had fixed the lag in Cyrodil.
I only did BG during the mayhem event for the achievement. I thought it was ok but I'd need to build a crew to run with for sure. Never got to it and now with CP enabled, I'm pretty sure I'll never go there again. As PvP isn't my favorite mode anyway, i'll stick to Cyrodiil and play defender of keeps or run with the zerg lol.
I played Battlegrounds during Midyear Mayhem to get my Star-Made Knight title. I didn't enjoy fighting in Battlegrounds with my Cyrodiil build and I didn't see anything interesting enough in Battlegrounds to warrant spending the time to make a build specifically for Battlegrounds.
Plus, I don't enjoy getting farmed by the same organized group of players again and again, whether that's a farming group at a resource in Cyrodiil or a pre-made group in Battlegrounds. In Cyrodiil, I can walk away and still have fun in PVP.
In comparison, I play solo, small group, zerg-surf, and organized raid very often in PC/NA Vivec. I learned to PVP in Haderus and Trueflame, so I'm very comfortable in and prefer CP-enabled Cyrodiil.
Sometimes I don't know why I play either though, BGs mostly because of it being a buggy mess, Cyrodiil because apparently some of the CoD player base has seeped in as that is the only way I can explain how toxic a lot of PvPers are.

I play both BGs and Cyrrodil. The problems I see with BGs are No premade only, No pre 50, and no nonCP. If ZoS wants people to be interested in it gives us some more options. It's not fair for Pre50 folks to think they'll have some fair game fun with newbies only to be stomped by CP690s. Also if you decide to pug it sucks playing against premades. But hey... What do I know
I picked no PVP but I don't see why it has to be a option, this is clearly a PVP question
bunches of pve folks seem to have logged in to cyrodiil during the last campaign on vivec/ps4/na...
hopefully they were able to ignore the crazy lag at times and have fun...
would be great for pvp folks if whatever widget the transmogrification system uses is incorporated into the pvp rewards system much like the transmute cyrstals currently are...
I know not everyone feels this way - but, when it comes to pvp - the more the merry...
as far as BG's - just prefer the open ended nature of cyrodiil where I can go solo and at my own pace and direction...

It would have been a mix for me but since they added CP, the discrepancy between premade groups and randoms is just too large to be fun. So now it's only Cyrodiil for me where you have more freedom to do what you like even when your alliance gets stomped like a random group in BG.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.
I tried battlegrounds and it just wasn't for me...
I would dearly love a brand new Cyrodill type DLC with new objectives and new zone. I love Cyrodiil but being able to have a completely new territory (just as large as Cyrodiil) with new keeps/objectives would be amazing. I would throw my money at ZOS if they made a new large scale PvP DLC:
