I expect a half-baked attempt that only players who enjoy (or are willing to endure) grouping get to use. Either that or RMT.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. There's a lot of ways this can be handled and I don't want to start expecting one system and then find it's something totally different.

But on the basis that anything is (usually) better than nothing as long as it's not ESO Plus/crown crate exclusive or requires tokens that may drop from vet trial bosses or something like that I'll probably be ok with it.

If not I'll stick with using mainly crafted armour and the occasional Imperial/Morag Tong conversion.

I’m thinking it will be just like the “Barbershop” we got. Take all the community feedback on it.....and do the opposite.

    I hope I’m wrong. :)

I'd be hyped if we can change the style of uncraftable sets like VO or MD... If not, then like, what's the point? We can always craft new sets. Only expensive end-game mats are golds and ancestor silk
And so, Akatosh revealed himself to a young Gaben, and granted him purpose.
"Grant them Steam sales," he commanded.
    And obey, he did.

While I'm really hyped for this, I'm also expecting the worst.

Like I was really looking forward to housing, but when it got released, I was immensely dissapointed because it was nothing I was hoping it would be. It took me about 8 months to finally buy a house and start decorating it. Though I must admit, it's more fun than I initially thought it will be, but still not what I wanted.

I really can't wait to see how this will turn out but I'm prepared for the worst - locked behind crown store.

Im mostly annoyed because i want to see something like they have in LOTRO or at least theslightly worse Transmog of WOW but all we propably get, is an Crown store thing that you buy a coupon which you can use to make a "costume" of sorts that works just like the costumes but more limited and most likely the real clothing i have in my bank, have no use at all.. Most likely it also has stupid limitations due MMO crap that says "You cant wear dress due being tank".. I got so tired of Jedi tanking in SWTOR when evryone kicked me from wearing light armor, which is what that type of Jedi was supposed to use when tanking. MMO players are so limited -.-

Its an way to change the look of armor and weapons into other styles.

Hopefully it won't be achieved by paying real money, gated content, or a crazy amount of grinding since it's just appearance and not endgame related. But if people can change the gear's appearance to their liking then that would probably result in less costume purchases - so it'll probably be some tedious thing...

Yes it will be fun for the first week or two but to have that occupy us for the next 3 months + is a bit... lol

"Style stones" were datamined a while ago. So I have faith this may be a crown store only option - depending on how they implement this system, it could be rather expensive for the consumers. I hope they consider this while is is still in development.

Barber shop had potential, but was kind of a let down.

I am hyped for it in general, but tbh the letter from the game director might be referring to any number of new cosmetic things. It's almost certainly definitely "transmog" since we haven't heard of any other cosmetic system on the radar, but I still want to meter my expectations just in case. We also don't know if the final implementation is going to actually be good or reasonable. We all want it to be, but what if it's just more single-use microtransactions with a limited scope, like how the unique holiday dyes have been? I want to believe it'll be something as well-designed as the trait transmutation system, but until we see details I am not hyping anything.

It's short for transmogrification. Which is apparently a real word (meaning 'to change into a different form').

It's one of several names MMOs use for systems that lets you change the appearance of your equipment without affecting the stats. So for example you could have a Rubedite Sword that looks like Iron but still has Rubedite stats.

There's a lot of different ways games have approached that, which is why no one's quite sure what exactly we're going to get in ESO. Some I've seen are combining both items + a special token to make a new one, crafters being able to learn styles separate from stats and combine them when crafting a new item, ways to collect skins and then select which ones you want to use (like the current system for mounts) and separate appearance slots - so instead of equipping 1 sword you'd equip 2 and which slot you put it into determines which one shows in-game and which you get the stats from.

Matt didnt exactly put it in those exact words that we are getting such a system. I doubt they will make it avaible in a normal manner, instead of making it another moneymachine.

Stuff has been datamined already regarding a "style stone".

Not hyped at all. Like most features belatedly added to ESO that other MMOs already have as standard, it'll likely be poorly implemented and locked behind a hideous grind with the option to shortcut via the cash shop.

Ehh.. it probably will be as accessible to me as transmutation ...and that means, it won't. I usually wander alone and am too afraid I'll be a disappointment to the group to frequent dungeons...so I am not excited at all. I don't care really.

I'm guessing the dye system in game will be tied into a transmog table. I haven't been playing teso for months now but will come back to check this out once it drops.

I have low expectations. I bet it has a real money cost per transmog to offset costume revenue, or it's tied to ESO plus.

Either it'll be a welcome addition or ZOS will mess it up through incompetency or capitalist meddling (monetizing transmog, putting whatever's needed for it behind a paywall). Either way, the forums will have plenty of people saying it's the best and worst thing since beta.

I have been looking forward to a transmog system for years. So much so I have spent much of my game time acquiring complete motifs in the hopes of being able to use them all in the future.

But as so many others have pointed out, I am sure I will be severely let down once this is behind a pay wall in the crown store, or some sort of endless dungeon grind.

If they expect the community to have to pay crowns to craft a costume, or buy "style stones"... that type of greed might just push me out of the game completely. Which would be a real sin because I have stuck by this, subscribed, since closed beta.

As I stated in another thread on this topic, I think the phrase I am looking for is: "Prepare to be disappointed."
