Restoring Light tree vs Restoration Staff tree

Odin1088
I have a Templar healer with SPC+WC. For my healing spells, I use most of the Restoring Light tree except I also use Purifying Light which does a small amount of healing, Healing Springs, and Ally Ward(I was using healing ward but a friend suggested trying Ally Ward and I like it). I was recently told rather than go heavy into the Restoring Light Tree, go heavy into the Restoration Staff tree and pretty much the only worthwhile Restoring Light spell is Breath of Life. What are peoples thoughts on this? I feel like if I go heavy on the Restoration Staff spells then what's the point of being a Templar. I use a handful of other spells but those are mostly synergies, buffs and debuffs.

Use inner light, breath, extended ritual, combat prayer and mutagen or springs, depending on the content you are doing. I also put Crescent sweep as ulti on this bar for the extra 10% CHD, you could use barrier if you need the 10% extra mag regen.

You are going to want all the passives and skills in each tree eventually.

I would never use ward ally/healing ward on a temp. Breath is basically the same thing, a oh crap heal, but better because you can hit two allys instead of just one.

You have to choose which of more than 10 good spells to slot. I recommend work with them all as you find out the combo that best works for you. I run the following fairly good set of 10 spells:

Templar: Shards, Channel Focus, Puncturing Sweeps, Extended Ritual, BoL,

Destr Staff: Elemental Drain, Blockade of Storms.

Resto Staff: Mutagen/Rapid Regen, Combat Prayer, Healing Springs.

Some of the other good spells that healplars consider are Radiant Glory (either morph), Purifying Light, Reflective Light.

PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

I'm not looking at my character right now so I might miss something, but the other spells I use are Repentance, Elemental Drain, Luminous Shards, Extended Ritual, Breath of Life, Remembrance in the oh damn, I'm out of magicka and the group is dying moments, and the Elemental Storm morph for the fire staff. I might be missing something but I think that's all. I like Repentance as a small heal, but I mostly have it because slotting it gives me 10% magicka, health, and stamina regen.

Please don't use repentance. Stamplars are a thing and need it more then you, as only one temp can use repentance per body and therefore get stamia back. Switch the morph to radiant arua, it gives minor Magicka steal but is less reliable then eledrain but you won't screw over stamplars that you might run into.

Get warhorn, much more effective then you using a damage ulti.

The first thing I do when I get into a group is find out if there is a Stamplar in the group. If there is, I keep Repentance slotted but dont use it. I have War horn, but a friend asked me to get Elemental Storm one time to help with killing the mobs on the second to last boss on Faulkreath Hold. I haven't decided to keep it as my ult or not, but it seems to do noticeable damage.

Other than Repentance and Elemental Storm, do you think I should change anything and as long as I dont use Repentance when there is a Stamplar in the group, do you still think I should replace it? Thanks for the help.

i already gave you my resto bar when i heal, what exactly do you have on yours?

to reiterate, my front bar- inner light, breath, extended ritual, combat prayer, mutagen or springs, ulti Crescent sweep

back bar is eledrain, purifying light, radiant glory, luminous shards, lightning wall, ulti warhorn.

since repentance doesn't give stam back to the group, i do not have it on my bar any more, if you need regen, i run about 1300 on my temp, who is an argonian, run barrier on your front bar instead of crescent sweep.

if you need to run a damage ulti, put solar prison on your front bar, gives the only source of major maim (reducing their damage done by 30%) in the game as well. it might look like it does less damage, but it last for 12 seconds(game says 10 but it ticks 12 times) instead of 7 that rage lasts and has a crazy powerful synergy.

Thank you. I suppose since I'm a healer, I don't need health regen because I can heal myself, but I'm a Vampire which gives magicka regen, but kills your health regen so I've been under the impression that I should have something to marginally compensate.
