I want to try a Stam Sorc but not sure on what to focus on. My goal is PvE dps and some PvP on the side.
Should I go medium armor or heavy?
What would be my main dps abilities?
2h or 2w or bow?
Are there any important gear sets I should look for?

Thanks!

PvE build and PvP are gonna be entirely different. I mean REALLY different

Edit: for my PvE experience it's: AoE Dots, the more the better

Medium, same as every other stamina build, either.

PVE: medium armor, Dual Wield/Bow, focus on AOEs and DOTs
PVP: heavy armor (most likely, you can go medium armor, but you'll be squishy unless you go medium Fortified Brass or an equivalent, so you might as well go heavy armor) Two-handed/Bow, focus on Burst Damage

Pvp is actually a lot more flexible than it might seem right now. You will be squishier in medium armor, but you’ll be able to dodge more and use shuffle. My favorite setup is dual wield with 2hander or 1hand/shield with 2hander. You can get lots of build ideas by searching the keywords on YouTube and scrolling past the most popular cookie cutter builds.

If your just beginning have someone craft you 5pc Hunding's, 3pc Night Mother's Grace, and buy some Robust Agility Jewelry from a guild store. There are several sets to farm but BiS will be found in trials, Twice Fanged Snake and Vicious Ophidian.

Stam Sorcs use Crit, Dots and AoE to gain the majority of their damage.

A starter build will have a combination of Hundings Rage (crit and damage) Nightmothers Gaze (crit and reduce resistance), Agility 3 set, Monster helm Velidreth/Kraghs/Stormfist.

In terms of stats, Weapon Damage, Crit Chance, Penetration, Stam regen/Resource are your main focus. A reasonable ballpark to reach for is 3.5k dmg, 60% Crit, 10k Pen, 1.5k regen, 36k Stamina.

CP loadout Mighty/Piercing/Thaumaturge/Precise are your focus. Master at Arms also a consideration.

Class abilities will be Bound Armaments, Hurricane, Critical Surge.

    The rest are weapon abilities.

    For PvP youtube search Fengrush.

PvE all medium divine armor. Easiest to get is hundings rage and spriggans and This is very nearly BiS. Luckily we’re in a forgiving patch right now. DW and bow for wpns. 1 nirnhoned dagger front hand and a precise or infused dagger/axe off hand. Bow should be nirn or infused I forget which is technically BiS now. If you can get it run velidreath monster set, if not Kraghs or 1 pc kraghs and 1 pc veli or kena or two piece Selenes can work also.

Fengrush is/was the man to watch for stam sorc pvp but unfortunately hasn’t been producing new builds or content for some time. There’s a ton of combos you can run, better to just research on YouTube. Keep in mind CP point allotment will have to change quite a lot most likely unless you run a dot built in pvp.

I run Automaton, Stormfist and TFS most of the time. All divines.

Dual wield front bar, bow back bar (Make sure you don't lose TFS when you switch bars).

    Great replies, guys. Thanks!
I still don’t have any CP (new to eso)... hopefully the Stam Sorc is viable at lower cp levels.

With the AOE damage and resistances you get from Hurricane, Stam Sorc is the easiest class I have ever leveled.

You should have fun with your stam sorc...they’re a blast. You’re asking some advanced questions you don’t need to ask quite yet, at least not until you’re really experienced with the game mechanics. Down the road, your stam sorc will perform very well in pve and pvp.

For now, focus on some basics:

    - make sure you selected a stam race, like khajiit, woood elf, Redguard, and not a magic race like altmer. It’s kinda important, and it’s better to verify this now than worry about an expensive race change later.

    - learn how your class skill lines level and work them up. As a stam sorc you’ll use less class abilities than any other class, but there are some good ones and you want your skill lines leveled.

    - wear a little heavy armor and a lot of medium. You want both lines leveled, as you will likely, wear a blend in many scenarios.

    - feel free to level and play with all four physical weapon lines. Dual wield is your go-to for Damage, and you’ll want bow and 2h both worked up. Sword and board is optional.

    - learn about gear sets and how they work, and if you like farm some and try them out. You don’t need to get super serious about sets until cp160+, and by the time you know the game that well we can have a whole other discussion about setups. But for now, if you can make or get sets for your low, level toon, they will really help.

    - don’t be afraid to experiment. You can’t “ruin” anything on your character. Skill points are cheap and plentiful. Recasts are easily available for a little gold. Unlock and play with any skill that sounds fun. Some will work and some won’t. Feel free to recast and try the alternate morph.

    - do a little pvp, even if just supporting your team. Help take some keeps. Your primary burst heal is vigor, which is unlocked once you earn ~85k AP. That’s not that much...just a dozen or so keep captures. Work toward vigor early, because it will really help keep you alive.

    - work your Legerdemain over time. Every once in a while go steal stuff and fence your daily max. There’s a passive that reduces sneak cost by 40%...your resources are precious and this is worth the time investment.

I really, really love my stam sorc. I tend to use a dw attack bar and bow back. I buff with surge, then launch my attack w poison inject. I’ll flip bars and proc hurricane and veil of blades for AoE Damage, then go to work with dw skills. I use the slash one that returns health, and shrouded daggers. If I run low on health or magic I have vigor for a heal and exchange to return Stam. He’s a bit tanky, but with decent Dps.

One last tip - give your stam sorc some time to develop. A lot of their best skills are higher up in the ability trees. They do fine early on, but as your class lines hit lvl 30 and weapons 40+, you’re going to start unlocking the skills that make stam sorcs killers.

I love stamsorc its the best class for both pvp and pve! I run 5 hundings, 5 Briarheart 2 stormfist. 5 heavy 2 medium in pvp and 5medium 1heavy 1light for pve!!!

I’ve tried playing every other class and keep coming back to my Dunmer Stam Sorc, love it.

I use Dunmer because I’m flippant but also lazy and like to respec into mag sorc from time to time. Also, I despise redguards and bosmer.

Light armor unless you have Undaunted leveled, in which case you'll benefit from 1 heavy and 1 medium. You can also go 5 light/2 heavy if you want a bit more survivability.
