Why are weapon skill lines strictly stamina or magicka?

Two-handed, One-Hand&Shield, Dual Wield abilities, and all morphs use stamina. Destro, Restro abilities, and all morphs use only magicka. I don't understand why like class abilities there are not stamina and magicka morphs. Maybe then there would actually be some diversity in Cyrodiil.

I understand that when people think of staves they think magic and thus magicka and so forth for the other weapon types, but the same logic is broken for class abilities like say casting cutting dive. How the hell do you cast/summon a flying cliff racer using stamina? I am not saying that all weapon abilities should have a stamina/magicka morph but some of the more believable ones should. For example, I can totally imagine a magicka version of volley where spiritual arrows rain down kinda similar to how in Skyrim you could summon a daedric bow.

Originally all weapon skill lines scaled with weapon damage not spell damage.
They changed it so that magical weapons scale with spell damage about a year after release because apparently it was too confusing otherwise.

Not just that but all weapons base attacks(e.g. staves' light/heavies) actually scaled with your max stamina :D Fun times lol.

I don't know, I kinda like this aspect of the game atm because now it actually makes sense and is fairly straightforward. To give skills different resources based morphs...they'd actually have to revamp the whole system. They'd have to make weapons' base attacks damage scale with your highest stat or something as well, and then they'd have to change base weapons' damage values because otherwise everyone would just run DW...and then would we really get more diversity in the end if they made all weapons the same?

Imo they should just work/keep working on giving the less used morphs more attractive features so people actually have reasons to use the other one as well. Crushing Shock/Force Shock is a good example of a very balanced morph(which'd also suck to lose if they were to change one of the options to stam) - you either get more damage or you get more utility, and both are very popular. I think they are trying to do it but I don't think they fully understand cause and effect when it comes to skill balancing/choosing.

I mean it doesn't make much sense to me if it did, I mean would the stam morph of destructive reach be staff smack?

This hurts my brain. It's self explanatory why. If you can't answer it for yourself then you shouldn't even go there.

    How is it self explanatory

Some stuff I get, like staffs and two handed sword and speed and board

But dual wield and bow could offer spectral daggers and bow that scallops from magica allowing the skills to run from the magica pool

Be great for nightblades and battle mages

Instead of dismissing OP out of hand, people should realize that, at least for the physical weapons, he’s asking for a Bound Weapons implementation.

Having played Conjurers since ES3, I would also like to see a decent implementation, although I don't know what the details of it would be. Perhaps it would be as simple as a third morph choice on certain skills. Perhaps it would be a skill from Soul Magic that when slotted would toggle the resource used.

I'm not sure about converting Staves to Stamina, but Bound Weapons are very consistent with lore and would be an interesting addition.

To balance it out for Stam users, there would probably need to be more Stam morphs for class skills.
