So I was reading up on some lore, I'm sure I'll be corrected, but it seems that the alliance war ends very soon after the white gold tower situation. Which is also what sends Ayren back to summerset to deal with the maomer attacks. If this is the case then the war in Cyrodiil needs to end. That could shape up some great new pve questing during the rebuilding of Cyrodiil, maybe some pvpve content. But it would most certainly need to be replaced by a solid new pvp zone/content

You mean the dungeon quest White Gold Tower? Why would that mean that the alliance war ended? It seemed like a pretty self-contained situation with Molag Kena. After all, that wasn't actually Clivia.

Regardless though, even if eventually the alliance war ends in-game, that probably won't be the end of Cyrodiil being a PvP zone. Dark Anchors are still active despite completion of the main quest, and all zones take place in their period of time regardless of completion, you can still go back and see now-dead characters standing around in earlier zones, eg.

But there are still parts of Cyrodiil we haven't been to, major cities like Skingrad even, which may be added in future zones, which could be PvE like the Gold Coast. Some of those storylines could even be about rebuilding from the war.

Pretty sure the war to become the new leader of Tamriel doesn't stop until Tiber Septim's rise to power.

There IS a Lore category in the forum now y'know.

Completing WGT does see the end of the Dark Anchor above the Imperial City, which means it's stopped the flow of the Daedric Invasion and the Imperial Legion can now retake the city. Though I doubt the Daedra being gone from the city would deter the Alliances from continuing their claim to the Throne, and there's no clear event in the Lore that states how and when the War ends. If ZOS ever did create an actual end to the War in-game, (even though the whole premise of the game was the Alliance War to begin with), it'd have to be an entirely new separate instance for all veteran players that have completed everything,

The Three Banners War doesn't end, but the Daedric Invasion of the Imperial City does. The alliances still fight in the districts, but Molag Bal has lost his last foothold in Nirn.

The Imperial City DLC takes place right after the Main Quest ends. Its Molag Bal's last ditch attempt to conquer Nirn. Spoilers for the Imperial City's main quest below.
The Drake of Blades asks the Vestige to help uncover Molag Bal's plan in the districts of the City. THey discover that Molag Bal is searching for the Dragonfire Cathedral so that he can profane the Sublime Brazier that holds the Dragonfires, thus preventing a future Dragonborn Emperor from returning and fully repairing the Veil from the Alessian Covenant that protects Nirn from daedric invasion. The Vestige stops the desecration of the Dragonfire Cathedral and the Drake of Blades becomes its guardian so that the dragonfires are safe until Tiber Septim can relight the dragonfires in the Temple of the One.

The White Gold Tower dungeon is the actual end of the Imperial City's main quest, destroying the Dark Anchor over the city and reclaiming the Elder Scroll.

However, Cyrodiil and the Imperial City, like all of the game, are locked in time. Auridon, for example, is always earlier in time than Greenshade for obvious reasons. Cyrodiil is locked into a time before the end of WGT because we still see that Dark Anchor. Imperial City is after the Main Quest ends but before WGT. And White Gold Tower resets itself constantly.

The Imperial City DLC takes place right after the Main Quest ends.

Actually, the events in WGT have to happen before the end of the Main Quest, otherwise the Dark Anchor portal would have closed when the Great Shackle was destroyed. The same goes for the events in ICP, as Lyranth's clan is already freed from the Lord Warden when you complete the Reaver Citadel.
