Signal fire spring (New life festival) timer & voiceover bug

Every time you lit the brazier a voice is heard "Begin, the warlord approaches" and effectively resets the timer.

I notcied that too. The timer reset is basically just a visual problem, completion of the quest in time or for the achievement count the time correctly. But when the timer gets reset to 55s at each brazier, it is impossible to tell how much time you have actually left.

And, because the voiceover always starts at the beginning, you don't get to hear the complete story, which is rather sad.

    Agree 100% ^^.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Hopefully worth looking at. :)

The timer does reset but i still managed to receive the Achievement although i heard her voice whenever i lit a brazier and had the timer reset.
Achievement to do it in 35 or less worked for me!

The timer should reset each time you light a new brazier, but the repeating VO is a bug. Thanks!

Seriously? The timer resets. You know you can almost walk between them, right? I think the longest walk I timed between two braziers was 60 seconds. For next year, can we get the quest renamed to the Signal Fire Stroll?

Timer resetting makes no sense & many of us aren't getting credit for completion when it's way under the time. Please repair both. VO is optional since it doesn't affect the achievement point. Thx!

Does the timer start when she gives you the quest, or when you light the first fire? And does it end when you light the last fire, or when you speak to the NPC?

It starts when you light the first fire, and ends when you light the last fire.

not sure, I tried it only once, but when I was doing this quest, it worked fine (I used rapid maneuver skill)

I agree that it doesn't make sense for a timer to reset. What's the point then? Everyone can lit each brazier in 1min time? :O

I also don't see a point in the timer resetting, but then I don't ever see the timer anyway.

    I know how this goes;
    • Talk with NPC to initialize event
    • Light first fire: Event start
    • Light next fires: Clock resets
    • Light last fire: event complete
    • Get achievement if completed in time (this seems bugged)
    • Return to quest giver for hand in

All is good and I have completed event in time to collect achievement on some characters. I have been doing event with up to 8 characters on main account and 2 on alt account. So far have only got achievement a couple times. I know there have been times I have completed event in time to get the achievement (stop watch on phone used) but not got the achievement.

The problem for me is that the achievement related to this event is the only one left in the 'New Life' list for my main to complete other than the achievement that gives the title - the two are directly linked.

It looks to me that getting the full list complete and thus getting the title that I want on my main is entirely dependant on whether this event works as it should or bugs out as it seems to be doing. If I do not get the title because of this bug it will not entirely spoil the 'New Life' event for me but I will be rather peeved!

Is there any chance that those of us that cannot complete event and get title because of what is clearly a bug* can be given a completion token or some such?

*People are reporting having timed the event on an independent device and completed in time but not getting achievement. This appears to be a random bug.

Edit @ZOS_GinaBruno: You wrote that the voice over is bugged but that is not my issue. I have timed my runs on an independent device and completed in time for achievement but still not got achievement! The achievement and directly related achievement are all I need to complete the 'New life' achievements and get the title. It's frustrating to not get the achievement then have to try again the next day - especially when there appears to be a bug stopping completion.

The timer resetting makes it more accessible to those who are not as physically capable as all of us who can do the achievement.
I know somebody who has trouble withe the timer for lockpicking even if I find that very easy, all because of the moving the pick left and right being imprecise.

    1) Server based timer with all the issues with that including lag.
    2) Try with a group and place everybody at a fire and get it in 2 seconds.

That's called a challenge. Having everything "accessible" just because someone isn't capable or doesn't want to put any effort shouldn't force devs to use these kind of methods. If that was the case at all. For once people should have fun more than mindlessly roam on a speed train.

I still think both the timer & the voiceover repeats are bugs though.

    HELLOOOOOO? Anybody home?

The "achievements" are for "challenge". The quest itself has to be accessible.
It's like the difference between "normal mode" and "hard mode".

The basic timer is just for a maximum time limit for anybody to complete so the server doesn't time you forever and kill the entire server while looking for a certain time to be met.

Why do people post when they have no idea what "accessible" and "challenge" really means or that you can get both from the same thing if you just add 2 levels of timer?

Yeah, I've tried this quest on my main with max speed, max stamina regen, and Rapid Maneuver, and flew through the course well under the time limit: No achievement. And then logged in a level 13, jogged around, even made a couple wrong turns, stopped to regen stamina.... and gotten the achievement.

There's more than just a simple timer governing this quest. I don't know if it's some sort of lag, buggy coding, or what. But it's really frustrating to know you've beaten the timer several times, but still denied the chance to get all achievements. We shouldn't have to "cheat" and use a group, that's not what her story is about. It's about a solo warrior saving Bergama by pushing their own limitations to the edge.... and succeeding against the odds.

For sure. However, the way it is currently implemented is not "normal", you literally have 55 seconds to reach the next brazier. Fifty five seconds. You could craft a potion, grab a drink and walk to the brazier freely and you'd be there in time. It just makes no sense to stretch the timings so much.

That's kind of the point! It is easy to complete the task in good time to get the achievement. Thing is it seems, for some players, the achievement is not awarded when they are clearly in good time.

Anyway; I have the pleasure to tell that I finally got the achievement(s) on the character I wanted. Happy as a live turkey on St Stephen's Day!

It makes sense when you consider it's there for people to lazily get the quest done so they can move on to the next holiday quest, getting the holiday items.
This is not made to challenge anyone. The achievement is for challenge.

Also, if you want the achievement then just group with 2-3 other players and station everyone as a different fire to get it insanely quick. Group credit is applied.
So, even the achivements are not an actual challenge in the strictest sense. You can use your brain to work around it.
