It's no different than spending that stipend on almost anything else in the crown store. The only difference than say a mount or a costume is it's not equipable pixels you see. It's a permanent change unless you do it again. Don't really see the big deal here tbh.
QFTfor a one-time use token to only change the name of your character, not its appearance, its ability to perform in-game activities or affect other characters in any way? - 2500 is a huge middle finger to those who care about role playing at all.

A - huge - middle - finger.
I haven't this concern for myself since I always choose my roleplay names carefully ... but a great empathy for all those who discover the lore, and feel bad about their irrelevant character names in the end.
500 crowns for a rename would be fair, 1000 crowns being the top limit, and 2000+ crowns is the field of pure usurer absurdity
Unsure if this has been posted before, I haven't seen it if it has.
Do other people agree that the price to change the name of one of their characters is extortionate? 2500 crowns?!?
For a lot of things I understand the price charged, but for a one-time use token to only change the name of your character, not its appearance, its ability to perform in-game activities or affect other characters in any way? - 2500 is a huge middle finger to those who care about role playing at all.
I've 90% completed a trial-ready magsorc, gone off the name and have thought of something that would work better with the build, backstory etc. and my options are:
1. Spend 2500 crowns when i only get 1500/month for spending approx. £10/month on ESO plus
2. Start a new character and level all skill lines again, including mages guild
3. Get over it - which for something that would require such little effort from ZOS's side I don't think anyone that has paid for the game at all should have to.
I'm not sure what I hope to achieve from this post, but it's nice to vent.

In almost every other MMO (especially the major ones) a name change is usually in the $10 range but ZOS went 2.5x that because they are greedy. I get companies need to make profit, but a name change at 2500 crowns is insane and overpriced. 1000 crowns MAX would be more acceptable and because it's so expensive I will NEVER buy one and just have to deal with the names I originally chose. ZOS is very much out of touch with pricing and it's why the last 2 months I've lost a lot of interest in the game again.
I want to change my templar and warden names around because my templars name was made at launch and now would suit my warden better but I would have to use 3 name changes to interchange the names with them (1-change templar to temp name, 2-change warden name to old templars name, 3-change templars temp name to wardens old name) so no way I'm giving ZOS $75 for that.
