Weaving on a magic nightblade.

So, I have played a sorc as my main damage dealer since launch. I have a magblade leveled up but I havent played much with. I got a good rotation for him that allows me to keep up all my dots and have a constant SA and MR buffs up with two bow procs per rotation.
The only deal is when weaving sometimes the light attacks dont register and dont fire. This is important because 1) it procs assassins will 2) it keeps my sa and mr buffs up and my dots.
Can anyone five me some advice on weaving with a magblade? Below is a video of me showing what I mean.

✭In my opinion, bug that's been known by players for sometime, not sure if devs are aware or not; don't think we ever got confirmation. Videos were posted a patch or two ago on the PTS showing light/heavy attacks completely missing a close by target.Member of:

For a while some build guides suggested sticking with force pulse so that you could light attack in rotation.
Other build guides suggested medium attack weaving, which netted more long fight dps due to fewer resources used to sustain funnel over pulse, and mediums always worked over light not always working and the consistency and resources were preferable.
Most guides now suggest figuring out exactly the animation and then light weaving around it

The issue I've found is when ping is very variable. Like inconsistently up and down 50ms - just makes trash of my fire staff and siphon weaves. Whatever the ping is unless it's oceanic bad, you can work around it. It's when it varies more than around 35ms + either way all the time it gets harder and at 50+/- bah. Pass.0 -
Liko✭✭✭You have to ever so slightly delay the light weaves for funnel health and the merciless resolve bow procs. Then for the rest of your skills, you can light weave them normally like you would on your magsorc. Yeah its kind of weird and annoying, but once you get more playtime down on your magblade, you'll get used to it and it will hopefully become second nature.
For reference, I usually need 1.10-1.15 seconds per light attack, which averages out at 53 light attacks per minute (in a full light attack rotation). This is slightly lower than I can manage on a magsorc weaving force pulse, and its down to funnel health and merciless resolve.

Nox_Noir✭✭✭✭It's not just you, I'm having exactly the same problem, and so do all of my guildies that were trying out Magblade.
It doesn't feel like NB is just more difficult, it really just feels buggy and the difficulty is a result of that.

Not being able to do it properly with the NB's spammable skill makes me sad
The funnel animation clearly needs some minor tweaks1 -

✭Funnel health is the hardest to weave spammable ability in the game due to the way its animation works. You just have to practice A LOT to get it down.
Medium weaving is an option, but if you are medium weaving, you are casting abilities slower than the global cooldown allows, so your DPS will be lower than someone who can perfectly light weave.0 -

✭I noticed this too, and it's really really annoying. You basically have to hold off on your light attack a bit after using funnel health. I just rolled a magblade and couldn't figure out why merciless resolve stacks weren't building even though I could see the light animation attack.

✭✭Just add a short 10th of a second pause after your light attack before you hit the next Funnel Health/Swallow Soul depending on your latency...
My theory is that hitting Funnel Health/Swallow Soul too soon before the game registers your light attack overwrites it even though you may still see the animation.
There are actually a lot of skills that work this way... there are also skills where the animation runs a bit longer than the GCD that will also make you lose light attacks, but a bar swap or a quick block cancel will cut them off an let the light attack go off.

Splattercat_83✭✭✭✭Thanks for the replys guys. Im still getting used to playing my mag blade. The biggest thing thats helped me is to slow down my weaving just a bit.
I still havent got it perfect, but its alot better than it was. I finally got to trait change my maelstrom staff to nirnhoned and golded it out. After doing that and cleaning up my rotation a bit it increased my dps by 3.1k. I still got to level up my mages guild (level 3) and my undaunted (level 6) im running 5 light 1 heavy 1 med. I need more magick lol. Im sitting at 38k max magick at this point. How much dps increase am I looking at when I get it to 42k?
