Cant get it right (magblade)

im not sure what im doing wrong, i farmed matts, gold and gear to get 2 ganking builds going. Jack daniels torugs/elegant/1 monster with infused inferno staff and elegant/spinners/1 monster with sharp or nirn inferno staff. All stafs are gold, even msot gear is gold xcept jewels.

On paper stats look fine, specially on cp campaign (around 42k mag,2400 sp, low regen but im going for a gank and gtfo anyway )

Now, when i watched the build video from JAck and from the other elegant/spinners guy i see them actualy GANKING! Some people get killed in 1-3 secs.

I simply cant do that! i do the same rotation, use inner light for the empower, same passives...literally everything is the same but msot people are at 30-50% at best after my initial burst.

My HA crits for around 13k tops, followed by swallow soul for around 7-11k, these are the best hits i have seen.

I tried both no cp and cp campaign. On no cp everyone seems to be a tank and i have much lower damage, on cp campaign everyone seems to absorb ALOT of the damage all the time.

I dotn even udnerstand if these guys were on cp or no cp. Given that i only have 340 cp it doesnt help much...

For a second i thought it was my spell penetration, so i re arranged my cps and got to 14k penetration, and still my damage seemed as low as before.

I AM new, and i do know magblade isnt the easiest class to play atm ( i do have a fully geared/leveled sorc that i have to pvp with yet..but they seem boring and magblade has that underdog charm..)

What am i doing wrong? why is the damage diference so huge?

It sounds like you aren't picking the right targets. If you see a player who has more than 25k health don't attempt to gank them because they are probably in heavy armor. Some players just build really tanky and can't be ganked

Sorry but in my opinion "avoid these guys & only go for ganking scrubs" isn't an answer at all.
Magblade isn't in the best place & has never really been top dawg.
While experience plays a major role, half of it is manipulating the build to your playstyle. You can't just say "I want to gank, therefore, I'm going to copy this dudes build/setup & immediately be able to recreate those results; fights aren't like that.
Almost no two fights are the same in cyrodiil.

If you are truly going for gank only why are you using impen?
There are 2 things when it come to survivability:
1) tankiness
2) mobility to gtfo (understand this is half broke, but if you ONLY want to gank, you have to deal with it)

The objective is to kill your opponent fast, overwhelming them in 2 attacks before their group or buddy comes. If you can't do this before 2 people roll up on you, expect to die if you haven't mastered mobility even in its broken state.

You should definitely be running divines if you want this style.
Why are you using 1 piece max mag instead of 1 kena? Obviously damage scales higher off of spell damage than max mag, especially once you are over 40k & you stated you were at 42k!
What is your spell penetration at? I like to be at 12k
What is your increased crit damage at? IMO you should have 80 points into increase crit damage done in cp tree if you want to hit hard & use the shadowy disguise for guaranteed crit.
2.4k seems low for spell damage, fully buffed you should be over 3k preferably 3.2k+

There are optimization you can do like these & more, also use immovable speed pots to run away if needed.

Don't accept l2p as an answer but do practice.

I recently started playing my mag blade again, with great success.

They are in a good spot right now. Just posting this thread tells me the op needs practice and nothing else at the moment. You will know what minor tweaks to make the build really work for you once you have that practice under your belt.
