The cowardly Wood Elves are best noted for their unwillingness to engage in a face-to-face attack; a Bosmer will strike at you from every side except the front. You won't cross swords with a Bosmer, but you might catch an arrow in the throat. Be wary in forests and jungles, and watch your back.

I find this funny because in every MMO game I've played in the past 10 years there is always one form or another of this posted in their respective forums :D

I don't know if its from people with too much time on their hands or a combination of a armchair general trying to evoke panic lol

Anyway i'm glad this recurring trend is here as well haha

I think it's more along the lines that people usually play with people of similar interest. So when the people around them get bored and leave, then they get bored and leave it feels as if the game is "dying" to them, even if it's completely subjective.

10,000,000 players? Are they having a laugh?

The article was rather free with that statistic, implying that there are 10 million people actively playing. All ZOS has ever said is that 10 million accounts were created, which does mean 10 million players. We have no idea what the active player count is, but in a B2P game, most of them could be active, or at least able to be made active.

I was in the game yesterday and there were thousands (and I do mean thousands) playing. It is not like no one plays.
You have multiple metrics, one is how many have bought the game, this includes sales, might even include trial accounts.
Then you have number of players logged in at once. this tend to be 17K or something by the steam interface. However you don't need the steam interface for eso even if you bought it by steam as it uses its own launcher and don't use steam drm.
Lots also bought it outside of steam so multiply with 3-5. Note that this is players logged in at once, so it bundles EU and US even if they don't play at the same hours.
Finally you have active players, for sub games its if they subscribe. Is someone who play a few hour a week active?
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I mean ZOS is pretty loose with the 10 million comment as well. We dont know if that counts bots, or duplicate accounts or not.

We, meaning the collective intelligence of the forum (as low as that might be), seem to feel that it includes everything. Players, duplicates, bots, gold sellers, banned... everything.

A lot of games talk about how many copies they've sold, they never said active players.

Bethesda Softworks is a publisher of single player games. ESO and Legends were really their first journey into the realm of online gaming where people can come and go. I think they do tend to fall back on familiar metrics, like number of copies sold, and in this case, number of accounts created. It is just the model that Bethesda is used to, and for an online game, it is just vague enough to prevent people from pinning them down to actual live player counts.

Still, 10 million accounts created is not nothing, and does represent a significant milestone in the game. As long as they can keep expanding that number, and do it as fast or faster than people leave the game, they should be able to do well with ESO.

This page seem to favour quantity over quality.
Morrowind was anything but a stellar DLC, and 10 million players is a straight up lie.
Further down the page they award the Nintendo Switch the system of the year because (again) 10 million units have been sold. I mean the Switch over the Xbox One X.
    Meaningless awards.

Implying, but I would be very *** suprised to hear that is the case.

It's much more likely they were given the statistic of 10 million accounts created, and ran with it, and ZOS never ment to correct them.

It also does not take into account how many are bots.

Right. The number probably includes banned and duplicates, as well as active bots (player and commercial). A better metric is how many of the accounts could be made active, since this represents the current potential for the game. It is a number that they know, but will never share.

    ...

It's not about wether @Rouven and @Grabmoore are enjoying their systems but about one system aiming to be a home console and handheld and it's not doing a great job at either of those claims. Whereas the other was announced as the most powerful console on the market. And the One X has achieved that, whilst shrinking in size and doing it whisper quiet.

The game was dying before it came out and it'll be dying after it's dead.

Everyone knows the 10 million is marketing nonsense but they all pretend it's true. Like when you lie to your better half that they don't look fat in that muffin top.

This award is only worth the small PR value they can get out of it, which is slightly less than the macaroni and glue cardboard award that Billy the chromosomally challenged jammed through their letterbox.

    Ps4 eu is pretty dead.

Wonder how many of those 10m are bots or player who played for a week and never again.

How many of them was from the free week.

Got to love how companies inflate stats and not exactly lie but not tell the truth with them either.

I don't consider breaking the game every 3 months with 1 big update as regular content updates either.

Well the way some posters on here feel you probably have 5 real players and the other 9,999,995 are all bots

I see other players when I'm out questing and such. Sure I see some bots but the ESO world is populated enough that I don't get the feeling that the game is dying.

I know you can setup 500 player guilds with the current playerbase, but what I meant by that was the extent of how many players left the game after 1-2 months from console launch.

This game is definitely doing very well though as a whole. Specific populations in-game are abused though (endgame PvE trial ppl, PvP ppl) so they are not doing well at all population-wise.

The 10 million accounts is a misleading number. Considering that about 30% of my friends haven't been on in 2 months, and they were all devoted players for a long time.
Plus, they multi count players that have multiple accounts.

Few games in the MMO space continue to gain new players month after month, and the Elder Scrolls Online from Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda is one of the lucky few. It doesn’t hurt that it also keeps getting some of the best regular content updates in all of MMO-dom, including this year’s stellar Morrowind expansion and Clockwork City DLC. With now over 10 mln players worldwide, ESO is here to stay."

Ok.. congrats to Bethesda and all those involved in the development of ESO. However, not hating or taking away any glory from this, but, how big of a deal is this? I mean, Gamespace.. what is Gamespace and how big of a deal or luxurious would it be to receive a award from them? I actually never heard of Gamespace until now. What would this do for ESO.. does it increase its status somehow or some way? I guess I just can't see a game with so many bugs and issues getting game of a year for something; unless the technical aspects isn't included in how a game is reviewed and eventually chosen for the award. That loading screen crapshoot that occurred with CWC for almost a month before the patch was actually installed, for example, and not to mention all the reoccurring bugs, lags, and crashes throughout the years, and all issues/bugs occurring with every new DLC, additions and anniversary events. Heck, we have issues currently going on with this New Life Festival.

Anyways, for whatever or how much it holds weight to this award, still congrats for what it's worth. Although, I can't see it being much.
