Should I return to this game?

Welp here I am again wanting to come back to this game and play again. Last time I played was a couple months after morrowind released. Is it still worth playing? How is the population? Have classes been balanced? Is pvp balanced? Anything new since I last played.

It is really a personal choice to return. The game is pretty much the same. Also, class balance is a myth in any game, but especially with a game that offers so much choice vs the restrictive class designs of so many other games.

There is a lot new to the game so yes it’s worth it. If you are the kind of player that leaves after you finish the new stuff then you will have about a month of game play before you quit again.

Wait 6 months more, and if zos keeps their word, we should have a "free" expansion and a chapter, depends on who you are, if you want just a bunch of content, waiting can't hurt

pvp is "hot" again at the moment...unfortunately though the update that was supposed to improve performance in cyrodiil also introduced a huge bug to the game, which zos had to "roll" back...

so, although the player populations are back up - so is lag...

if you haven't played against or as a warden - that'll be something different - so, far they are turning out to be a very effective class in pvp...

Yes. Population is terribly crowded, classes are absolutely peachy to me as a pve player, don't know or care about pvp. Clockwork city is very nice.

I'm on PCNA and pvp even in vivec has not bad performance.

If you finished morrowind and focus on story, CWC has some nice story lines but the whole area can be finish in a day

If you are hardcore player, horn of reach dungeons and both trials in morrowind and cwc are fun to play with, especially nHOF

Do you like lags, frame drops and DC
Do you like load screens in the middle of battle or when riding your mount.
Do you like looking at pretty pictures whilst stuck in infinite load screen?
Do you like being perma stunned and not being able to break free, even with full stamina bar?
Do you prefer that some classes are nerfed into the ground whilst others are OP.
Do you like gambling with zero to no chance of getting that cool advertised mount or cosmetic?

If you answer is yes to the any of the above then welcome back. We would love to AP farm you and you will even get to blow your cash on cash stores where the only thing you guaranteed to get is lots and lots of consumables.

Can't say I'd recommend coming back. I managed to snag the base game plus morrowind for dirt cheap and played for about three months before I'd finished all of the content on normal and most of it on veteran, and then called it quits.

PVE content is decent but they haven't added very much since you last played. ZOS also greatly overestimates the value of the content they put out, unless you can get the content on sale you're better off spending your money on a different game. PVP is an absolute mess that only a masochist could enjoy. Even if you decide to roll an OP stam warden, the technical issues will still cause you all kinds of grief because ZOS sees no profit in fixing them.

Actually I won't say anything concerning the PvP stuff, because as a PvEer it just does not bother me, but I agree to the crown crate lottery. Nothing against an ingame store, but I prefer to buy my stuff and not just buy a chance to get my stuff. So it's my raised middlefinger towards Zenimax at moment concerning the crown crate stuff.

Since the OP asked if class and pvp is balanced then the answer is simply no. Class and PvP balance is really non existent in any MMO and as in all MMOs these things change constantly.

Yes, I quit for a while (because it was too addicting) and came back and am enjoying it a lot. Except it's eating up a lot of my free time again...

I PvP mostly and also PvE, and am having fun with both, AFTER, they fixed the never-ending loading screen issue...

The only real change since you left is that RNG loot is slightly less annoying with changable traits on gear.

Class Balance is still a joke, bugs are still prevalent everywhere and not much has changed in the PvE side of things that would warrant a return.

I think it's worth coming back.

The sustain issues aren't as bad it seemed and mysterious November monthly combat update says may even be an improvement.

Class balance is a bit better in regards to diversity though it's not all a numbers game. The tweaks for healers and tanks have been positive overall. You can enjoy 5 playstyles now.

Performance increases are significant especially for low end machines. Trials for all had a bit of boost.

They giving out some free such past 6 months so that is nice.

Oh trials where balanced so you can't be sure what is best in every build now. Also no more grinding for traits now you can explore and build with easy.

Overall the developers do have quite the heart in this project so forgive them for Morrowind fascal and see what is new. You won't regret it.

Pointless question, to be honest.

The haters will tell you to stay away, while the admirers will tell you to return. Typical forum stuff, in other words.

You alone know what you like/dislike about the game and why you stopped playing before, none of which you've explained. You also haven't mentioned which platform, server, and time zone you're talking about and all of which may be critical to your question about population.

Besides, you own the game and subscriptions are purely optional, so it costs you nothing to play and find out for yourself. As for what's been added/changed, there's a section of the forum with the patch notes - or you could just log in and see how you get on.

there is a very simple way to find out.. go play russian roulette with five bullet.. if you survive(which is very slim) you could continue play, other wise you will not come back.

If you want to try it again, then do so - I mean presumably you already have a copy of the game, so just try it again. It's not even as if you're asking whether you should buy it in the first place...
