Monster Set Weighted RNG

I'm alternating between a healer and a dps, my other characters have incomplete builds... I do vet dungeons, and do the optional challenge when I can... About 6-10 keys a day, and I continue to get the same pieces from the same boxes. There is without a doubt weighted RNG! It's been over a week of farming and I'm about to quit the game again. I'm trying to get iceheart, skoria, or earthgore. I DON'T EVEN CARE ABOUT TRAIT OR ARMOR TYPE, JUST WANT A SINGLE PIECE! Is there a more efficient way to do this, I'm so sick of farming keys? @ZOS_GinaBruno please tell the development team this is not fun, I only want to do PvP in the game, and I don't want to spend hours a day, for a week, farming keys to get the same sets over and over that I have zero interest in... Please implement a token system or something to fix this horrible system with the next update... OR AT LEAST MAKE IT EQUAL CHANCE FOR ALL SET PIECES.... I mean c'mon!

I hate ranting, I hate making these threads, but I'm very bored of the game at this point... I just want to PvP, instead of heard pugs, and I can't until I have proper gear...

A little over dramatic, rng will either work in your favour or not in your favour... it's a loot driven mmo/rpg these things happen and its how they will always happen, when you finally get your piece then you will have almost forgotten this post and your sense of entitlement. Sure rng is weighted, it always will be, I myself once spent over 200 keys looking for an Impen pirate skele medium shoulder and many other folks like me have, same for the guys who farmed vMA non-stop in search of a sharpened inferno, these things happen but now with transmute its a heck of a lot easier. Is it pleasant?... no.. is it acceptable?.. doesn't feel like it should be at the time, but the majority of people and by that i mean a huge majority just suck it up and carry on without the urge to QQ in the forums.

Excuse me my fellow player, but please, can I ask you in advance if I may have your stuff if you ever quit?

I could actually make a good use of some gold tempers.

those pieces you mentioned fell out of the undaunted chests within 6 keys for my heavy wearing warden.

play another character the opposite of what you want and they will get the pieces for you.

use the weighted rng rather than be used by it.

Yeah it's annoying because RNG in this game isn't pure RNG. Different things are weighted differently for different characters and drops have odd patterns. It's why so many people during a dungeon run will get the same drop from a boss despite the probability of doing so being extremely low or why you'll do a dungeon and get like the same set the whole time. The deck is stacked high against us and ZoS holds all the cards. Transmutation was a nice addition but it does nothing for people like you who are on the wrong side of a weighted RNG loop.
Hope you get your shoulder piece soon. Farming keys sucks.

I strongly doubt the game analyze your character and then give you gear you would not like, it would be to complex for one.
On the other hand traits is known to be weighted. Weapon drops probably to. SPC healing staff.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Since ESO doesn't or won't publish any of the odds on any of this, it is probably safe to assume that they manipulate the "RNG" whenever they want, to get whatever result they want.

This is also my argument that crown crates aren't really gambling, since you don't know what the odds are or what the prizes are. You push a button and ESO does whatever they want to do. Same with drops.

Over dramatic? Moved from PS4 to PC, had to rebuy the entire game and dlcs, then it's grind a character to level 50, and then even worse the grind to CP 160. But that's only the beginning: Before transmutation, I spent months trying to find specific set trait pieces for each of my, currently, 7 characters. Then the next RNG grinding obstacle for special weapons: Vet Maelstrom which is possible, and then vet Dragonstar which is basically impossible to solo. After giving up on that, flash forward to this garbage. Grind for keys, spend them on 6 consecutive Velidreth shoulder pieces, and then for red-beard chest it's ALWAYS Tremorscale.... Two sets, completely useless for all my characters, days worth of keys and hours played wasted. There is nothing good, nothing fun about this system, or the other forms of RNG grinding I mentioned, it has to change! This game has been nothing but grinding for a year, and I still haven't been able to enjoy PVP, because I still don't have the pieces I need for my builds. I'm tired of this grinding for no pay off. The only enjoyable part has been the community, but even a large chunk of that is toxic. I'll just hold out hope zos addresses this soon.

Congrats on that! I haven't acquired one in the past 2 years on either PC or PS4. Though I don't waste much of my time grinding for keys anymore, because RNG makes it near pointless, and there was a period I quit the game altogether. Came back for Morrowind though.

I'm not saying that's how it's done. I'm saying that random different weights are assigned. No analysis is being done. Its the only way to explain the weird drop patterns we experience in this game. When I said thay different characters have different weights I mean that they are just there arbitrarily.

Does OP know that each of the three chests has a different loot table? One of the three chests won’t drop any of the sets you mentioned.

Look up the set piece on fextralife and see which chest it comes out of. Pretty sure earthgore comes from Urgarlag Chief bane’s Chest.

I understand the loot tables, yes.

So you had a hard time finding a piece in a certain weight with a specific trait, that doesn't really apply to what the OP is talking about. Getting some of the shoulders in ANY WEIGHT WITH ANY TRAIT is a ridiculous crapshoot of a grind requiring tens, if not hundreds, of hours in PVE for someone just trying to gear up for PVP. I've used 70+ keys trying to get Pirate shoulders in any weight and have yet to get them a single time while getting other less desirable sets 10+ times each. So I agree that it is pretty frustrating knowing the Devs have weighted the RNG tables to make the chances of getting the good sets so extremely low. I mean think how many PVE people cry about having to spend 10 hours in PVP to get vigor, imagine the uproar if they had to spend a hundred hours in a game mode they don't care for and still didn't have it and had no promise that another hundred hours would give them what they are after.

The Golden doesn't sell the shoulders, just the head pieces; which are pretty easily obtained anyway since they are a guaranteed drop from beating the vet dungeon associated with the set and can be traded between the people running the dungeon with you to get the weight you want. And with transmutation traits don't matter so getting the perfect head piece is almost guaranteed within a handful of runs at most. But the shoulders only come from the chests and can't be traded/sold so grinding daily dungeons for keys and winning the chest RNG lottery is the only way to obtain them.

I learned a long time ago to NOT hoard keys. The same thing happened to me whenever i turned in a bunch of keys at once, i would always get the same piece over and over for that day.

ZOS's RNG is heavily weighted and that's just another example of how bad this can get. Turning in keys right after you get them seems to work better.
