@lordrichter it’s not even an Italian drug reference. The google opiate and you’ll see it refers to drugs containing opium.

I haven't had much time to play lately, but dOpiate, you were always a pleasure to interact with! I'm sorry that the seemingly random hammer of ZoS came down on you. I understand, in a way, where they are coming from, however, as you said, it's been *four years* and it seems like there are much more important things out there to focus on. "MrNiceGuy" can call you the C-word, but god forbid dOpiate have a friendly chat with you!

You have to do what's right for you, but I have to say you will be missed!

I'm glad you understand how it feels when change is force on you and we have our issues.

Again: for the record they did let me change the name but it doesn't fix anything.

Perhaps the OP came across a particular someone who took the report button to his name. He did say he's had this name for 4 years without incident until now.

Really, there are no GameMasters anymore, so I doubt ZOS bothers to check the playerbase on their own without having to receive reports.

I see so many worse names on xbox na. and what gets allowed in text chat goes above and beyond disturbing wrong and vile. I would be furious. not many things would make me leave the game but Im with you on this.

Its not even the fact that they are saying the name goes against tos. its that it made it past and has not been a problem for 4 years.

And while i dont play pc i get how important addons are. so doing this to a contributer of the community is just plain rude. how many addons are stamped with your "inappropriate" @name

not to mention they didnt have the follow through to change the forum name.

Would I consider the name offensive? No, not at all. Do I consider it a drug references? ABSOLUTELY. Even though the drug reference "opium" or "opiate" is not very modern, there is plenty of references to opium dens and opiate users in late 19th century, early 20th century literature works, plays etc and modern works based in the time frame that the term "opium den" was used.

I am very sorry you see this as a reason to leave the game, particularly the amount of contributions you made the community. Might I suggest just taking a break for a week or so before giving it up all together?

The people in charge of making the decision to change ppls names are *** ***. This game is meant for adults, there are drug references, prostitution, ***, murder, and thievery references in this game. It isn't like you had some obscure racial slur. ffs @ZOS_GinaBruno This *** is getting really old, if you dont think your companies hypocrisy isn't an issue it definitely is and pushing ppl away.

The rating of M...the player is advised content created ZOS/BETHESDA/AKA THE MAN might offend so proceed with caution. This does not involve USER CREATED content. The terms are set this way to "avoid" problems with USER related content and a user ID should be considered "USER" related content. More than likely someone complained, hence the name change.

Bottom line - Drugs are illegal therefore someone might be offended. Therefore to Cover Their A...., they add that stipulation in the terms of service.

ok so the username "dopiate" is against ToS because it references drugs....
BUT
this is the same world where we have khajiit dealing, smoking, and getting arrested for possession of "skooma". Even have a set in the game called "SKOOMA SMUGGLER". If that's not a reference to drugs, why would it need to be smuggled?
