lvl 50 gear/sets/weapons, potions? other tid bits

This could be answered somewhere else so just link it if so.

Currently a stamDK, enjoying all the questing so far. But almost level 40 and soon 50, so time to start planning ahead. I want to PvP a bit and will play around in cyrodiil soon, been mostly figuring out mechanics while enjoying the quests so far. (so many voice overs, they must have a voice over engine, yes?)

Anyways, asking for good starter sets and weapons for PvP and PvE to shoot for. Stuff to use while working on final sets. I can craft so if they are craftable, that would be a bonus (or maybe start off with a set of crafted gear and go from there). There is so much old and new info mixed all over that it is often hard to tell what the current state is.

And any other tidbits on potions or using poisons, etc., appreciated (so many good potions to choose from, I want to slot them all haha, any PC mod that can attach keys to potions? Or is that a no no?)

I do get that dodging, blocking, all the timing is very important in PvP, so don't need advice on that just a lot of practice. But if certain abilities don't work as tagged or if combing abilities with allies is a good idea, I am all ears.

Thanks
- Derrant

I know your itching to go mix it up, but here is some Champ System reality to keep in mind.Your going to burn through the first 160 points rather quickly, and for sure the first 80 or so super fast. So, any gear you get you will out level before you break it in.

Good news is, you will also get lots of drops of gear along the way, so you can have some decent stuff to wear in the mean time. Also, you can tryout different gear to see how it meshes with your playstyle.

Oh, also, this situation only happens with your first character you take to CP160, after that, any character you level to 50 will be the max champ rank on your acount, so if you have one at say CP200, then next one you level to 50 will be at CP200 as soon as you get to L50.

The fact that you craft will help you in this endeavor. Hopefully you have been researching traits so you can make some nice set gear and use some sweet bonuses along the way. This way you can make a 3 or 5 piece set and not spend time looking for that last piece.

As for sets, you can't go wrong with Hundings Rage (need to know 6 traits) for your base 5 piece, then mix in a world drop like Spriggans or Night Mothers.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Ok, I believe that the champ system starts at level 50 yes? That is where I'll earn champ points from XP correct? And with those I will further specialize, correct?

I find as I level I get gear that is fine or better for PvE use. I have not had to craft anything, except for the crafting quests which seem very worthwhile to do. I have been researching, I didn't right away but only a week after I started. One thing I don't get is how to get nirhorned unlocked, but I bet google has that answer.

I might fool around in PVP but I think with how the champ system seems to work, it is better to hit 50, gear up some and get some specialization going. Unless there are PvP areas for non-50s?

I'll check the Hundngs Rage, thanks.

Nirn is a special trait in that you have to learn from researching something made by the community. Now, you can get one Nirnhorned item from the Craglorn Zone MQ, but it is random as to what you get. Your best bet is to either buy the already made item for research, or farm the Nirncrux in Craglorn and ask a crafter to make you an item to research. Please tip them when you do. These stones are not cheap by the way if you buy them.

Yes, Champ starts at L50 and there is a catch mechanism in that you need a small amount of Exp to earn a Point early one, like less than 30K or something like that and at my level, CP965, it takes almost 900K exp to earn one. There is also enlightenment, which is a 4X multiplier for the first 4.8 Million Exp, which is why your going to get you first 80 or so points so quickly. After that, you get a pool of enlightenment (400K) for each day, and this can bank up over 12 days if you don't log in.

Yes, you will be specializing your character with this. Oh, rule of thumb for the first 150 to 300 points, focus on the passives you can unlock, from 300 to 600, unlock the character power, once you reach the cap, respec and optimize the point allocations.

There are non champ ranked campaigns in PvP if you want to dip your toe in.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Have someone that already knows nirnhoned craft what you need for research. Potent and Fortified Nirncrux can be found by farming wood / ore / clothing nodes in Craglorn or bought from traders / chat sellers. Potent is for weapons, Fortified for armor.

Hundings crafted with Divines/Sharpened trait. Enchant with +Stam or Stemregen based on your own preference. Craft in Gold level 160 if you have the materials. If you are short on materials, it will not be terrible to keep it purple 150 and save the materials for your next crafting project. Going Gold 160 eats a lot of material up. So probably best to keep your first crafted set at purple or even blue. I think most would agree with that generic advice.

Don't be afraid to PvP at low CP. You got to learn somehow. Your going to get beat most of the time your first few times in PVP no matter how much CP you have. So might as well experience it now if you want to do it.

If you run across another StamDK who is highly skilled, let him beat multiple times. Document the skills he's wiping you out with and study the approach he is using

The Craglorn main quest is really fast and easy now. I took a level 8 stam warden through it and gained 6 levels besides the Nirnhoned reward at the end.

Was Nirnhoned originally a dropped trait? If not, how did the first person ever learn the trait?

After some checking, it is the quest reward from the questline in craglorn. But you may get something you don't really need the nirhorned trait on, so you sell that and buy another.

The Original Nirn'd item in the game was dropped from the MQ for Craglorn. How it worked is guilds sent groups of 4 up there, as initially, you had to group for Craglorn Quests and Delves. Then they would take their drops and learn the trait on a crafter that did not know any Traits, so it would take 6 hours to learn. Then they would furiously farm Nirncrux all the while sending alts up there to do the MQ to get another Nirn'd item. They would make the researchables that they could and sell/trade them until they knew the trait on the gear they wanted to know it on.

People who could make researchables back then were making bank, as Nirn, on release, was an overwhelmingly powerful trait.
