Login from uknown IP address

When I tried logging into the game right now, I got presented with a window telling me something about unauthorized computer and having to use an access code (which I got and used).
Why did I get that? I have static IP address, it hasn't changed. What's going on?

Did you recently update your hardware? I think I got this once on a driver update too.

I think it is more Hardware than IP Address. As I have a gaming laptop I take on business trips and that gets a different IP address at each hotel, but I had to authorize the hardware only once.

I get this every time I log in to my account. No change in anything.

But I would rather that minor inconvenience in return for better security.

Yea, smaller local ISP who can't be arsed to implement DHCP from the looks of it
