ESO in 2018 - what’s next?

Hi all. Has anything been confirmed about what we can expect from ESO next year, in 2018? It sort of feels like we should know what DLC and Chapter we are going to get next year by this point, but I’m struggling to find anything beyond views and opinions of what players would like to see.

If you know something, please let us know and provide a source? And if anyone from ZoS is reading...... please share. Thanks

    Not really.

Gina said there will be a "Year Ahead" or similar post "in the next coming weeks", still in 2017.

It will probably be written this week. When we will see it is anybody's guess. I would imagine that the Studio is "closed for the year" after this week, but they can push a button to publish an article any time.

I suppose they won't do it at the same time as New Life starts, to avoid cluttering the PR channel?

    • More re-skinned crown store junk with new and improved (read: higher) prices.
    • No more chapters - the next volume of ESO will cost even more than Morrowind (you're welcome).
    • Did we mention the crown store?
    • More stuff made bind on pickup because this is a multiplayer game.
    • Crown store.
    • Further progress in the war on crafters.
    • Quick! Crown store limited edition thing!
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

Truth i don't even know what personally would want from ESO in 2018...

-Definitely don't care about new Dungeons as DLC packs.

-Same goes for Transmog, etc. They are nice mostly for players that don't already have everything.

-Even new Trial won't be nice if it will be like vAS, where 50% of classes are not welcome.

So probably would like 1 thing that ZoS never does - well balanced classes, where each class will be viable and strong in any end-game content, both stamina and magic, so people can finally "play as they want" (at least the class they want anywhere)

(but we'll get new $chapter we all know)

Well balanced classes, zos is working at that, and admitted, after the morrowind sustain disaster, they managed to make some good calls, like nerfing proc sets separately, buffing out weak mundus and traits, overall armor-skill balance changes,

    but at what cost.

Each patch my main gets more and more boring ,empty and weaker.
Now I perfectly understand all those templars complaining.

At this point we need a hybrid class system with 3 skill trees of our own choice, similar to what archeage had.
Classes just don't work anymore. That way we can truly play as we want.

We will see. It is possible that ZOS is settling into the comfy recliner with ESO. If this note from Firor looks back a lot more than it looks forward, then they are preparing to veg out in front of the TV for a good long while. If that is the case, all we have to look forward to is marketing material that is more exciting to read than play.

Of course, they will mention the DLCs, and whatever work they have already hinted at. For example, screwing up all the class skills so they they are all mundane and boring because every class is the same. Well, they won't say that. That is just how it will be interpreted here on the forum.

I don't expect any big announcements. Anything that the Bethesda VP of Marketing would want to roll out with a fanfare will be omitted from this note. That includes details on the next Chapter.

You know what I want more than poisons, champion points, wardens, and just about every change to PvP since launch?

PvP that actually supported hundreds of players on screen like we had at launch. Oh, and I want my deer and torchbugs back too.

It's sad when you can guess exactly what they usual suspects are going to complain about.

Anyway I hope we see Black Marsh in the next expansion, or Elseweyr.

And tons more Crown Crate items.

As mentioned, something next year will be the Summerset Isles. Whether or not it'll be large enough to justify deeming it a "chapter" -- I don't know. Depends on what other "features" with which they pad it.

It's doubtful we'll get another full-blown class in the next chapter. My guess, a new playable race and/or a new transformation skill line a-la vampire & werewolf (my guess, a Necromancer skill line). It's likely the transmogrification system will also be wrapped up into the chapter the same way the transmutation station is with Clockwork City. As for what else they can throw into the chapter, if I had to put money on it, then I'd bet on jewelry crafting.

We probably won't get anything else too substantial. We'll get one more quality-of-life DLC which will likely improve housing/homestead improvements (I hope), another dungeon DLC, and another small-zone DLC.

There will not be spell crafting, sadly. Nor will there be any significant improvements to Cyrodiil as long as people are still pop-locking the CP campaign during NA prime-time.

It's also very probable they'll wrap all the DLC to-date into one package similar to the ESO Gold edition.

No matter what is to come, please please PLEASE keep perspective -- of course it's going to cost money. That's just how it works, people. Complain about the Crown Store all you like, but they've managed to keep the game financially solvent without going pay-to-win, which is why I'm still playing.

Re-balancing and nerfs are a certainty.

    Mistakes *WILL* be made.

If it stops being fun, then just stop playing. It's that simple.
