Maintenance for the week of December 30:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – December 30

Just another reason why we need faction lock or something to stop this kind of stuff from happening

Video was recorded on ps4 vivec na doesn't really show alot besides reds and blues working side by side each other to farm ad you can kind of tell just wished something would be done to stop this sort of thing from happening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma3Xr7MJfrA

maybe you haven't taken notice, but, for about the last umpteen months (with exception of one EP and one DC win) - the dominion and their evil elven witch leader lady have been absolutely stomping DC and EP in to the dirt...

thank goodness some folks are smart enough on EP and DC to know whom the real enemy is at the moment...

if you fancy wearing yellow all the time - that would be you mister jake :p

Except they wasn't helping DC and EP by doing what they was doing by farming ad while working together I could see if they was trying to take the keep but they wasn't if anything them being on EP and DC is taking up space on the server for other ppl who might be waiting in the que who really want to play for their alliance rather then just taking up space just my opinion

help us all jake...level a blue or red...

I enjoy the heck out of my AD characters, but, it normally takes 2 to 3 weeks in to the campaign before AD's pops will start to level with the other alliances, and, I'll want to play them...

it's just not a lot of fun jumping on to a faction when they have around 60 to 70 points each score period...for days on end...

heck though - when i first joined the "main" campaign map, we did have faction locks and DC used to dominate the map all the time...

wish more folks would put aside role playing type faction loyalty to help balance the map...

    but, hey - it's a game...

Edit: it's also other folks' leisure time - as much as possible you should be able to play the way you want...

i enjoy "being" EP, DC, and AD...i also got all kinds of grudges against each faction...

my only regret - i had no idea what i was thinking when creating some of my characters...i liked the dragon tattoo so much I put it on a bunch of AD and DC characters - ugh, I'm embarrassed to take their shirts off now...

The exact same thing happens on EU.

EP and DC literally standing side by side.

ZOS NEEDS to bring back to faction campaign lock. You log in with EP with one character for a campaign? Youre EP for the full 30 days.

Its becoming so ridiculous. Ive seen EP and DC BOTH siege a AD keep together at the same time let alone normal fighting side by side.

The game doesn’t have enough people anymore for pvp. Locking folks to one faction will leave one alliance stupidly outnumbered with no chance to win which will end up killing the campaign. I have seen it before quite a few times since 2014.

We need to leave it alone, it one faction had too many people some folks can switch to the less populated faction to keep the fights interesting. Until we get more players it probably needs to stay the way it is

And for those of us that want to be able to play in a way where there is some purpose to the 3 banner war, and loyalty, and the score? We shouldn't be able to play the way we want to play? There are too many ways that people want to be able to play that differ from one another to accommodate them all? Which ones should receive preference? Those who want to faction swap for any reason they want, nefarious or otherwise? Those who want to swap to play with friends? Those who want to swap to balance the score? Those who don't want to swap at all and gut it out regardless of the score? Those who want loyalty to stand for something that is framed as a war where loyalty is something regarded as a virtue? Accommodating all of these play styles so that everyone gets to play the way they want is impossible.

So let's just throw the "play my way" rationale out the window. 95% of the game is "play my way". What is Cyrodiil supposed to be? Let's get back to the 3 banner war and make that mean something more than just what individuals want. It should be something greater than its parts. "Team" should be more important than "I".

Unfortunately players can also switch to the more populated faction to kick butt instead of getting theirs kicked. This seems to be the more common occurrence.

Howdy @Ranger209 ...i definitely empathize with your frustration with the current state of pvp...

and, i can understand your view that faction freedom in cyrodiil contributes to its decline...

i sort of envy your perspective of the alliance war actually having some meaning...truth is - now it just feels like one big sandbox for folks to fight in...

not sure exactly how many campaigns (7 day or 30 day) you've completed - but, it is a bit of the same thing over and over again - alliance war wise...

i have no idea what the actual numbers are - but, my guess would be that around 20 to 30% of the pvp player base now have characters on multiple alliances...

right now pvp wise - we've seen a good bit of decline in the population of ps4/na...and, it's not just strictly related to the crappy loading screen issue...

the player pops in Shor, Sotha Sil and Kyne have been steadily dropping for us over the last six months or so (except for the midyear mayhem event)...hopefully the enticement of those transmute crystals in the rewards for the worthy bag will help draw some more pver's in...

would re-installing faction lock cause players to choose sides and put their alternate characters in the other campaigns and help breathe some life back in to those maps...maybe...

my feeling though is it would simply dilute a declining population base...plus, i can still remember what it felt like to have a character stuck in a campaign where they were gated for months on end - not enjoyable...was that my fault for wanting to have different characters in different alliances...i don't know - i guess...

heck, if anything - i'd like to see them do away with Sotha Sil (sorry no cp folks :#)...

personally, i feel as though zos needs to re-evaluate the play parameters and scoring rules in cyrodiil once again...to try to keep the faction war as balanced as possible...

at this point - i think looking forward to a faction lock is akin to wishing for dragon mounts...very unlikely to occur...

I found it pointless to watch the video because players still swapped AP when we had faction locked campaigns.

No reason for Zos to revert back to it.

You will never stop 2 alliances from joining up in a fight against the 3rd no matter what you do.

I would rather see balanced population caps..

If the least populated faction has 100 people in the map, then the highest can't have more than 10% above that. More go into the lowest then me can go into the two higher

ZOS needs to implement a point system much in the same way the do with low pop bonus points. If they can track the difference in time spent fighting one alliance over another by parsing the numbers of players fighting X and Y and the time and numbers of Keeps owned by X and Y and then give bonus points to the faction that is most balanced in their AvA war, we might see a change.

I think a faction lock per campaign would help too. Totally for that.
